Paramount has announced the lineup of movies, TV shows and live sports coming to the Paramount+ streaming service in February. The Paramount Plus February 2025 schedule includes the season three premiere of Yellowjackets and the second season of Taylor Sheridan’s 1923.

Audiences will also be able to dive into refreshed and expertly curated collections, including the expanded Black Voices collection in celebration of Black History Month and the Peak Romance collection, featuring an assortment of romance-themed movies and seasonal episodes just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Stephen Gaghan's 2020 film "Dolittle," based on Hugh Lofting's "Doctor Dolittle" novels published in the 1920s and 1930s, was notable in that it was Robert Downey Jr.'s first major acting job in five years that wasn't part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Downey's five previous credits were for Avengers movies, wherein he played the inimitable Iron Man. The MCU, as well as Guy Ritchie's "Sherlock Holmes" movies, made Downey a wealthy worldwide superstar and a widely recognized household name. His 2010s fame, however, didn't seem to lead to other notable acting gigs. In 2009, Downey appeared in "The Soloist," and 2010 saw the release of the road comedy "Due Date," but neither of those were huge smashes. Downey starred in and produced "The Judge" in 2014, but that film attracted more attention for his co-star Robert Duvall than for his own performance. 

In 2020, when "Dolittle" was released, it seemed to many that Downey was adrift.

Prime Video’s November programming will dip its toe into Christmas and other holiday offerings such as The Holiday (2006) starring Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jack Black. The streamer will also add some films with sequels arriving in theaters this month, like Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) and Ridley Scott’s 1992 film Gladiator.

Exclusive: We have the finalists for the 2024 Latine List.

The partnership between the Latin Tracking Board, Nalip and The Black List have selected 10 projects that represent some of the best rising talents in Latin-e/a/o/@ storytelling in film, TV and theater.

Following the List’s core mandate, this year’s selected scripts probe the scope and depth of genres and voices — past and present.

“This collection shines a spotlight on Latine characters, settings and narratives that capture the intriguing complexities of our culture,” the Latin Tracking Board said today. “Each script offers a unique perspective, celebrating the originality and richness of Latine experiences.”

In fact, several writers on this year’s Latine List have received pervious industry praise and recognition for their work.

Back in 2022, it was reported that Jamie Foxx’s directorial debut, All-Star Weekend, was shelved and the reason has pointed to the controversial casting of Robert Downey Jr. in a role that has only been described as “Mexican.” Foxx and Downey Jr. have collaborated in the past and Foxx has been supportive of Downey Jr. when criticisms surface of his satirical role in Tropic Thunder when he appears in black face. Foxx spoke of the shelving, “It’s been tough…with the lay of the land of comedy…We’re trying to break open those sensitive corners where people go back to laughing again.”

The legendary RuPaul Charles is upping the stakes with all-new franchise of the Emmy-winning “RuPaul’s Drag Race” with the premiere of “RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars.” In this new show, 12 queens from all around the globe will compete for a grand prize and a place in the international pavilion at the Drag Race Hall of Fame.

Xbox Game Pass may soon feature Octopath Traveler 2, hitting Xbox Series X/S this month. Collaboration between Xbox and Square Enix hints at more RPGs coming to Xbox. The Octopath Traveler franchise offers unique storytelling with eight protagonists, and has been praised for its visuals and gameplay.

According to a new report, Xbox Game Pass could be getting a critically acclaimed RPG in June, a day-one offering alongside the title's release on Xbox Series X/S in physical and digital form. Director Joe Wright and writers Jez and John-Henry Butterworth have all boarded the upcoming Paramount+ series “The Department.”

The Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios series, which was announced with a straight-to-series order in February 2023, is based on the French drama series “Le Bureau des Legendes” created by Eric Rochant. Wright will direct the first two episodes and executive produce, while the Butterworths will writer and executive produce all episodes. George Clooney was originally announced as directing the series. He and Grant Heslov remain onboard as executive producers via Smokehouse Pictures.

The "Amazing Spider-Man" movies aren't as widely celebrated as the Sam Raimi trilogy, or as popular as the MCU Spidey flicks. But for me, there was a heart to "The Amazing Spider-Man" and its 2014 sequel that made Andrew Garfield's two outings as the wall-crawler just as good as any other Spider-Man movie. Unfortunately, I am very much in the minority on this highly important topic. Sure, they have their fans, but people in general just didn't seem to resonate with the Garfield films and their tragic history. Which is fine, especially since we got to see Garfield's Peter Parker return to rapturous applause in 2021's "Spider-Man: No Way Home."

It’s based on the true story of Candy (Elizabeth Olsen) and Pat Montgomery (Patrick Fugit) and Betty (Lily Rabe) and Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons) – two churchgoing couples enjoying their small-town Texas life… until an extramarital affair leads somebody to pick up an axe.

With its list of new releases for April 2023, HBO Max is premiering the final episodes of two major shows.

First up is the continuation of Titans season 4 on April 13. Returning after a four month hiatus, these next six episodes will be the last go around for HBO Max’s gritty live-action DC series. Arriving three days later on HBO proper is the fourth and final season of Barry. Bill Hader and the rest of the Barry team wrote themselves into a fascinating corner with the conclusion of season 3. And judging by the first teasers for season 4, this final batch of episodes will indeed catch up with our favorite actor/hitman in prison.

Other TV shows of note this month include the Pete Davidson-starring animated series Fired on Mars on April 20 (light ’em up) the the Elizabeth Olsen-starring true crime story Love & Death on April 27.

Bill Hader returns for one final season of Barry and the popular sketch comedy A Black Lady Sketch Show kicks off its fourth season on HBO Max in April 2023. Additional highlights of the streaming service’s April lineup include the debut of Love & Death, a limited series starring Elizabeth Olsen and Patrick Fugit; season two of Somebody Somewhere with Bridget Everett; and the return of 100 Foot Wave for a second season.

In addition, the Titans mid-season premiere arrives on April 13. HBO Max offers this description of the fourth and final season’s remaining episodes: “The Titans – with the exception of Gar – are returned to the Temple of Trigon and rush to find Sebastian and Mother Mayhem before Sebastian summons Trigon. Along the way, they come across a prophecy that may require Kory to make a huge sacrifice to save the world.

In the final season of HBO Max’s “Barry,” premiering on April 16, Barry’s arrest for the murder of Cousineau’s girlfriend leads to a shocking conclusion. Barry (Bill Hader), a hitman who stumbles into acting, explores the dark, often comedic underbelly of both LA gangsters and Hollywood. Henry Winkler stars as Cousineau, Barry’s acting teacher and the man forced to confront the reality of his former student.

In addition, it utilizes weapon-specific attacks, making it an excellent choice for Hikari or other physical fighters.

The battle itself is also part of the larger Octopath Traveler 2 Divine Weapon quest, with the Behemoth yielding a Rusty Bow used to make the powerful Hunter’s Bow. Still, players will want to be at least level 40 before considering taking on this lengthy task. Those that want to test if they are strong enough can enter the beast’s lair at the Sinking Ruins in Toto’haha. If even the random encounters are too difficult, one will want to train before taking on the actual Behemoth.

Hidden temple locations in Octopath Traveler 2's land of Solistia called Altars allow players to unlock hidden abilities related to specific characters in their party. These Ex skills are powerful tools in battle, ranging from large AoE attacks to life-saving restorations of Hp beyond the normal cap. These Altars represent eight gods that the local people of the land worship, and are connected to the eight heroes players take control of throughout the main story.

The eight Altars that exist in the game are all found in the same location no matter which character in Octopath Traveler 2 players start with for their adventure. However, certain Altars are found sooner than others, perhaps giving players an opportunity to have a strong lead character quickly by gaining their Ex skill early on. Octopath Traveler 2's early moments are special, regardless of the chosen path. Developed by Square Enix and Acquire and published by the former, the pixel-art Jrpg sequel feels like a positive, iterated experience based on lessons learned by the first title. British director Joe Wright, who helmed Winston Churchill drama “Darkest Hour” – which earned Gary Oldman an Oscar for his portrayal as the British prime minister – is set to change historical sides and direct TV drama “M,” which chronicles Benito Mussolini’s rise to power.

The high-end series, which is based on Antonio Scurati’s Premio Strega-winning and international bestselling novel “M. Son of the Century,” traces the birth of Fascism in Italy and Mussolini’s ascent with an innovative approach that has sparked debate about the Fascist dictator’s legacy in Italy and abroad.

“The writer understood and put on paper, with facts and documents and everything, that Mussolini is the guy – him and only him – who created what we now know as populism and Fascism,” said the show’s producer Lorenzo Mieli, speaking in Venice, where he is among producers of Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All.”

But I do despair that so many people — both in my home country of the United States and my adopted land of the United Kingdom — profess to be Christian and claim these nations themselves are fueled by Christian values, and yet absolutely stomp, individually and collectively, on the ideals that Jesus preached. Lonely Planet is billed as a love story set in Morocco. Specifics with regard to its plot are being kept under wraps. Grant is also producing alongside Sarah Timberman and Liza Chasin for 3dot Productions, with VP Studio Film Kira Goldberg serving as creative lead for Netflix.

With its list of new releases for January 2022, Hulu is raiding CBS’s closet and premiering How I Met Your Father, a continuation of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Complaints about unnecessary rebooting aside, perhaps its worth giving the Hillary Duff starring series a chance. If nothing else, telling a story about 2022 from a future perspective might play well.

Aside from Himyf, there aren’t any other Hulu original series to speak of. Instead, Hulu is opting to once again beef up its film library. As the Hollywood blockbuster machine continues to dust itself off and release some early winter hits, Hulu is going in a bit of a different direction with its list of new releases for November 2021.

There are no big Hulu original films of note this month. Instead there’s a whole host of original series. The TV parade starts on Nov. 5 with the release of Animaniacs season 2. Also getting a second season this month is monarchal comedy The Great on Nov. 19. The most intriguing series, however, is animated Marvel comedy Marvel’s Hit Monkey. As its name so graciously implies, this is a show about a hit monkey…as in monkey assassin. Naturally the hit monkey is haunted by the ghost of Jason Sudeikis because it’s important that everything make sense.

Though Hulu doesn’t have any original movies in November, its list of library movie titles is quite vast.

Susannah Grant, showrunner for Netflix’s Emmy-nominated limited series “Unbelievable” and Oscar-nominated “Erin Brockovich” screenwriter, has inked a first-look television deal with Lionsgate Television Group, chairman Kevin Beggs said today.

“Susannah has an incredible repertoire of award-winning content across television and film, which makes this partnership and its possibilities very exciting,” said Beggs in a statement. “She’s a talented creative voice and writer who can do it all, and we’re happy to welcome her to our Lionsgate family. We look forward to creating iconic, critically-acclaimed programming together for all of our platform partners.” Under the terms of the deal, Grant will create and produced scripted television content across streaming, cable and broadcast platforms exclusively for Lionsgate.

Alongside some of the biggest streaming apps available now, Paramount+ has entered the highly competitive market and is looking to make its mark. Originally launched as CBS All Access in 2014, the ViacomCBS owned service was rebranded as Paramount+ on March 4, 2021, following the 2019 re-merger of CBS and Viacom. With 36 million subscribers currently, Paramount Plus is looking to expand even more. They will be adding over one thousand new movie titles this week alone.

And the move seems very necessary. HBO Max recently merged with Discovery+. Disney, Netflix, and Prime Video are available globally with millions of subscribers. Paramount+ will start streaming Paramount Pictures' theatrical releases after a 45-day window in movie theaters. So, you can expect to stream A Quiet Place Part 2 from July. Paramount's sci-fi thriller Infinite, starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor will be exclusively streaming on the platform from June 10.

Paramount+ said Monday that it will significantly expand its content offering to more than 2,500 titles by the end of summer, starting with the exclusive premiere of the sci-fi action film Infinite, which will make its debut June 10. It stars Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor and is directed by Antoine Fuqua.

On August 20, the service will premiere the kid-friendly Paw Patrol: The Movie the same day it hits theaters — a first for the streaming service. Paramount+ will also become the streaming home for A Quiet Place Part II following its theatrical release.

Paramount Plus is busting out the popcorn: The ViacomCBS streamer is stuffing more than 1,000 movie titles into the service this week as it fights for ground in the streaming wars.

The new batch of flicks includes “Infinite,” Paramount’s sci-fi thriller starring Mark Wahlberg and Chiwetel Ejiofor and directed by Antoine Fuqua, which will exclusively debut on Paramount Plus this Thursday, June 10, alongside another 1,000-plus movies. All told, the company said, Paramount Plus will be stocked with more than 2,500 movie titles by the end of summer 2021.

Hulu’s list of new releases for June 2021 is highlighted by a host of useful library titles and one fascinating original film.

The original film in question is the one that lends its delightful photo of Pierce Brosnan delivering a baby to this post. False Positive stars and was written by Ilana Glazer (Broad City). It sounds like a really fun, creepy time with a synopsis that reads: “After months of trying and failing to get pregnant, Lucy (Glazer) and Adrian (Justin Theroux) finally find their dream fertility doctor in the illustrious Dr. Hindle (Pierce Brosnan). But after becoming pregnant with a healthy baby girl, Lucy begins to notice something sinister through Hindle’s gleaming charm, and she sets out to uncover the unsettling truth about him, and her own “birth story.” Cool!

Hulu’s other original offerings aren’t too inspiring this month. Only Love, Victor season 2 on June 11 moves the needle much.

Lorraine Toussaint has signed with Paradigm, Variety has learned exclusively. She continues to be represented by Frontline Management, Jill Fritzo PR, and Myman Greenspan.

Toussaint currently stars in the CBS reboot of “The Equalizer” opposite Queen Latifah. The show was renewed for a second season earlier this week. She will next be seen alongside Idris Elba in the Netflix film “Concrete Cowboy” on April 2. The film had its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

Toussaint’s other recent credits include the Showtime drama series “Your Honor” with Bryan Cranston as well as the feature “The Glorias” with Julianne Moore.

The career of Joe Wright has been one of ups and downs, with the thrilling Hanna, gorgeous period pieces such as Atonement, Anna Karenina, and Pride & Prejudice, as well as the rather forgettable projects, such as The Soloist and Pan. His last film, Darkest Hour, might have picked up an Oscar but it already seems rather forgotten. He’s now getting into the business of best-selling thriller adaptations with The Woman in the Window.

Based on A.J. Finn’s novel and adapted by Tracy Letts, the film stars Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Gary Oldman, Brian Tyree Henry, Wyatt Russell, and Anthony Mackie in the Rear Window-esque story of agoraphobic developmental psychologist who witnesses a crime scene. Ahead of a release this summer, delayed from this past fall, Fox has now dropped the first trailer, which previews the crime drama an can be seen below.

Erin Brockovich writer Susannah Grant had been tapped to direct and executive produce ABC’s Until the Wedding, a romantic drama pilot from writer Becky Mode (Smash), producers Sarah Timberman & Carl Beverly, Alon Aranya, Israel’s Reshet Media and ABC Studios.

Based on the Israeli series of the same name (Ad Hatuna in Hebrew), Until the Wedding is the story of how one couple’s decision to get married can affect everyone in their lives. The show will explore the intimate relationships of a group of friends/family as they are forced to reckon with their own romantic lives and come to terms with the realities of love and marriage.

The original series, created by Avner Bernheimer and Anat Weizman and produced by Ami Amir’s Matar Productions, aired on Israel’s Reshet 13.

Mode is executive producing the adaptation with Grant, Timberman and Beverly via Timberman-Beverly Prods.

Netflix has tapped Patty Whitcher, Momita SenGupta, and Steven Squillante to new positions in its physical production department to work across film and TV series.

Whitcher has been named VP of physical production for original films, SenGupta has been named VP of physical production for original series, and Squillante has been named VP of physical production for international originals. All three execs will report to Ty Warren, VP of physical production for Netflix.

“Hiring Patty, Mo and Steven is a big step forward to support the growth of our own produced content,” said Warren. “Their collective expertise and relationships make them best in class, and I’m very excited to have them join the Netflix team.”

Amazon Prime Video has confirmed that several of its original series will be debuting new episodes on the streaming service in August, including the first season of “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan.” John Krasinski, who is red-hot following the success of his winter hit “A Quiet Place,” takes on the role of the CIA spy that has been played on the big screen by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.

Likewise, there will be plenty of movies making their first appearances on Amazon Prime Video including the action comedy “Gringo,” which stars David Oyelowo as a businessman who unwittingly becomes involved with a Mexican drug cartel.

“Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan” premieres on Amazon Aug. 31, starring John Krasinski as a CIA analyst who’s thrust into a dangerous field assignment. Another new Prime Original series, “All or Nothing: Manchester City” will premiere next month, though the specific date is yet to be announced. It follows Pep Guardiola, the legendary coach and the team’s 2017/2018 season.

Other titles coming to Amazon in August include 2004’s “A Cinderella Story” and 2008’s “Hurt Locker” on Aug. 1. “Mother!,” starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, will be available on Aug. 26.

Removing the music from any of his movies would be like ripping a bandage off an unhealed wound — impossible to remove without taking off some raw flesh. The scores that Wright commissions aren’t merely ornamental; they’re not just a garnish layered over a finished piece of work for added effect. Casey Affleck has signed on to star in his first movie since winning the Best Actor Oscar for his heavy and emotional role in Manchester By the Sea. The film is called Stoner and it will be directed by Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna, The Soloist). The movie is based on a novel by the same name written by Jon Williams.

The story will follow the life of William Stoner, “a dirt-poor farmer turned academic, who emerges as an unlikely existential hero while making his way through the first half of the 20th Century.”

According to the Ellis family, the celebration of the late True Blood actor's life will happen in Harvey, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, and there will be a public viewing on July 21 from 6-9 p.m. at Leak & Sons Funeral Home.
