Joel references 'Jurassic Park,' but in 1992 when this episode was taped for its June 13 release, he was speaking of the book. The film would not be out until a year later, June 11, 1993.
While Tom Servo and Crow are taped together at the beginning of the episode, Joel makes a comment about how they can be "the Odd Couple: 1999." The Odd Couple II, the sequel to the original movie, came out in 1998, just shy of making Joel's joke a true prediction.
This episode is on the Volume 10.2 DVD Box Set of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
At the end of this episode, Joel reads a letter from a fan named Shannon that thinks Crow's name is "Art." This would be a running gag. Pearl Forrester would refer to Crow as "Art" later on in the series.
After the bots portray their favorite funny drunks from the '60s, the "poignant, thoughtful ending" passage that Joel reads is from Alcoholics Anonymous "Big Book" (Chapter 5, "How It Works").
