Monster Warriors is both a send-up of and a love-letter to schlocky, low budget monster movies. Nostalgia tints every frame of the show; the soft-focus lighting, the purposefully clunky dialogue, the tropes played so straight they loop around and arrive at satire from the other direction, all combine to highlight how hilariously bad monster movies were and that's why we love them.

Wilson Coneybeare, creator and director of Monster Warriors, says: "It all came together in my head when I got stuck in a subway train in a tunnel between stations. I thought 'If a giant T-Rex came down this tunnel now we'd be in a lot of trouble'. In the 15 minutes it took to get the train moving, to get to my station and walk home, I basically had Monsters Warriors."
