USA plays pro gaming league
NEW YORK -- NBC Universal's USA Network is set to bring professional video gaming to a broader audience this holiday season in a deal with Major League Gaming. Under this first TV programming deal for MLG, USA will showcase the league's entire pro circuit, which consists of single and team competitions at seven big events in seven U.S. cities starting Friday in New York and ending with the national championship in November in Las Vegas. MLG said it is responsible for the production of the program and will retain certain rights. USA, the top-rated U.S. basic cable network, will not air the action from each circuit stop right away but rather in seven one-hour specials at season's end. The MLG show is set for the Saturday 10 a.m. slot -- following wrestling show WWE A.M. Raw -- starting in November, coinciding with the key holiday selling season for video game makers.
