Hanuman

The kiddos and I had been looking for South Asian animation, and I happily stumbled upon this DVD. The animation has a bit of an 80s feel to it, but in a good way. It tells the story of the playful monkey (demi-)god Hanuman, a divine incarnation of Shiva (equal parts Christ and Hercules) who loses his way and has to find himself through service to Ram, and, more generally, the battle against the demons who threaten to take over the earth (but who present mostly as humans). The creators did not shy away with telling this epic story (from the Ramayana, I think) in all its paradox and tradition, and the result is a fascinating one, with a mix of light humor, fantasy, and battle (usually not too gruesome) which will appeal to many children.

The worst ever movie. It's a torture watching this movie. Don't waste your time and money over this movie. Hopeless hero, hopeless heroine, hopeless comedy. Infact all the characters are hopeless. There is no story. Even cartoon movies are much much better than this movie. Superhero character is badly played. Not even a single person knows how to act. Overacting everywhere. Everyone in the family enjoyed the show! Very well made. The story was neat and the dialogues and dialogues delivery was awesome! Absolutely loved the movie! Can watch again and again! Highly recommended! 🙏🏼 Jai Shri Ram! Jai Hanuman! 🙏🏼

It would be a disrespect to Shree Hanuman Ji and my childhood if I rate it less than 10.....

The highlight of the movie is that it is India's first ever animated movie based on Hanuman's life and takes the viewer through Hanuman's birth till the great victory over Lanka. The movie talks about number of extraordinary feats that he displayed since his childhood through 100 minutes of world class animation. The movie boasts of 40 characters and 200,000 individual images that resulted in the movie Hanuman, which is directed by V.G.Samant and has Mukesh Khanna providing the voice-over for Hanuman.
