First Session is First Rate

DC Filmmaker Lonnie Martin has made quite a splash with his short movie. Currently working the festival circuit, First Session has hit audiences from coast to coast. I caught up with Martin at the DC premiere, where FS outshone every other short film by a mile. Martin's got the energy, the verve and the eye that every great writer and director needs.

First Session's script, lovingly shaped by Martin, races you through the half hour and leaves you hungry for more. An able cast delivers all of the shocks and laughs and lingering dread that seems to have more meat than a full length Hollywood horror.

Impressive piece of work!

I was very impressed with the overall originality of this film. For being such a short piece, this film had a lot of substance packed into it. It definitely kept me sitting on the edge of my seat. The cast and crew obviously put a lot of work into this effort. Scott McKenzie did a stellar job in portraying Mr. Smith. His character along with the character of Jodie Follensby (played by Joy Haynes) had perfect chemistry. The rest of the cast to include Cindy Martin, Helen Bunch and True Haynes also did a wonderful job in portraying their characters. The writer and director of this film, Lonnie Martin, obviously has talent, and it showed throughout this first-rate film. In my opinion, there is a Guinness commercial that can sum this film up in one word...BRILLIANT! I can't wait to see the next Lonnie Martin masterpiece.
