Henry DeTamble (
Eric Bana) suffers from a genetic "chronome" impairment that causes him to time travel to events in his past and, occasionally, his future. On one of these travels, he meets young Clare Abshire (
Brooklynn Proulx) who falls in love with him. Even though Henry has the unfortunate knack of disappearing at the most inopportune times, he and grownup Clare (
Rachel McAdams) manage to maintain a relationship and, eventually, a marriage. However, having children and knowing what's going to happen in the future poses particular problems.
