This was the first Tamil film Simran signed up for, but due to production delays, Once More (1997) and V.I.P (1997) both released before this film. The latter was her debut Tamil film. This film, therefore, became her third Tamil film.

Kousalya was signed on after Vasanth saw her and became impressed with her picture at a jewellery shop and was unaware that she had already made her debut in the hit film Kaalamellam Kadhal Vaazhga (1997).

The character names of the male leads, which are Joseph Vijay and Suriya, are the same as their names in real life, implying that they are playing themselves.

Suriya makes his debut in this film.

Ajith Kumar was supposed to play the role of Suriya, but he had date problems with other films, so he had to leave the film. Prabhu Deva was also considered for the same role after Ajith left the film. However, the director wanted a debutant because he was able to commit under short notice. Therefore, the director finalised Suriya for that role.
