Runway

An earnest effort by Dileep to get into action films. Not much of dishum dishum. Our hero uses his brains. Muscle power is not used in this action flick.

The story. Dileep's family, which consists of his mother, brother, and sister stay in the village. They believe that Dileep is in Dubai. Everything is fine. They run their family with the money sent by Dileep. Kavya Madhavan and her father are this family's neighbors. Dileep's sister and mom like Kavya and they want her to marry Dileep.

Just before the wedding Dileep has a confession to make to Kavya. He tells her the truth that he has never been to Dubai. All the while he was in Valayar. Dileep's brother who is a inspector is trying to trace down a don from valayar. Do this don and Dileep have any connection? To crack this truth you must watch RUNWAY.

RUNWAY is a well-executed film. Cinematography by P Sukumaran is good especially in the song sequences. Music by Suresh Peters is soothing. Screenplay is loose at places. Performance wise Dileep has put in sincere efforts. Kavya as usual us good. Indrajeet is okay. Rest lend adequate support. Overall RUNWAY is a good entertainer.

This movie is is absolutely fire. Dope Dileep as Valayar Parmashivam is super dope and it's one of Dileep's mass movies. I wouldn't be surprised if this movie boosted the Janapriya Nayakan to superstardom as it's better than Meesha Madhavan. Valayar Parmashivam is like a more advanced Meesha Madhavan since he's a commercial smuggler. Dope Dileep definitely should've won a Best Actor Award for this movie. I think he'd likely win the Asiant Film Award for Best Actor. I love the song Osalama Ailesa as Dileep's singing and dacing is super dope. This movie along with Meesha Madhavan is better than Chanthupottu since his masculine roles are better. Joshy directed this movie whereas Lal Jose directed Meesha Madhavan and Chanthupottu. If there were to be a sequel for this movie, it's should've been in 2005,06 or 07. My favorite scene is the market fight scene with Dileep fighting Riyaz Khan and his gang. I personally feel that Sudheesh would be a better choice for Dileep's younger brother instead of Indrajith Sukumaran. I might as well add that I despise Shammi Thilakan as he is a villain actor in many movies, especially because he's the villain opposing Lalettan and Dileep such as in this movie and Twenty 20. I hated the scene where Shammi thrashed Dileep in the police station and Indrajith stood there helplessly but luckily Murali stood up to Shammi and warned him fiercely. Better yet, Dileep rammed Shammi at the railroad crossing. Dope Dileep as Valayar Parmashivam is dope and fire and always will be for years and generations to come. I loved Dileep when I was very little but I hardly paid any attention to him when I became attatched to Lalettan since I was 8. However, I'm starting to love his work in retrospect. I feel sad about the 2017 assault controversy revolving around him and it's gonna hurt my mind for a long time but I will always like his works. Lalettan and Dileep are my top two actors and they should act together in more movies.

Runway is directed by veteran Joshi and scripted by duo Udaykrishna-Sibi.k.thomas. Script is good and not fully cliché as their previous flicks. The plot centers around Dileep(Unni/Paramashivam) who's character is intellectual rather than being stereotype action hero, he faces his crisis witty and wily. As usual there is a cat and mouse game,some action,little romance and emotions which all compel to make it a commercial mass masala entertainer as we seen in those telugu films. Performance wise Dileep countenance was good, Ashokan character was chafing and exasperating at times and rest of the cast like Kaviyoor Ponamma,Kavya,Indrajith,Murali and Jagathy(as a cameo) was good. Songs by Suresh peters were good. Direction wise Joshi successfully extract those ingredient which is necessary for mass movie.
