फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
I absolutely love this series and will be eternally grateful to Netflix for introducing it to me, unfortunately Netflix doesn't have all of the seasons available. I've hunted down copies for my personal collection and will not rest until I've gotten all of the Rough Science there is to be had. I'm so attached to - and attracted to ;) - the scientists and very much envy them in their participation. My favorite season so far has been the NZ Gold Rush episodes - though it's hard to choose favorites. This is a show that inspires creativity and curiosity and manages to teach you a thing or two at the same time. It definitely deserved more prime time positioning, though I'm fearful that too much attention for fear of it being spoiled by outside influences.
My most prominent memories of this show, I have to say, are strolling home from a night out, completly shattered, at about two in the morning, and turning on the TV to find the open university on with Rough science. It is always fascinating and entertaining, and anyone who has an interest in Biology, Chemistry or Physics, (Including Geology) and Naturalism, will enjoy the show. It is also great for kids who are learning about science. The people on it know what they are talking about, an although It is not the height of evening entertainment, it is certainly fascinating, and never ceases to give interesting challenges. The second (I believe) series where they are trying to obtain gold from the rocks in New Zealand, is especially good.
This is a program which really deserves a prime time slot. The first series was shown at about 1.00am during the week. The latest series is now on in the early evening though on BBC2. This show maroons four scientists somewhere out in the middle of nowhere and they are given projects to create everyday things. It is absolutely mind-blowing to watch some of the stuff they can come with using nature and a few odds and ends. In the last series amongst other things they 'invented' a camera, scuba equipment and a life jacket with flashing lights. Batteries were made from sea water. You never knew what was coming next ...... a really super program that deserves to be more widely seen.
I love how this show puts classroom learning into real world applications in creative and fun ways while being earth friendly. Its not a thriller but good wholesome educational entertainment. Myself and my kids enjoy rewatching these. I'd love to find more shows like it. Smash Lab, Dude What would Happen, mythbusters, Hillbilly Blood...These were good, but Rough Science was the best for showing how to put an education to good use.
