My heart feels better already ;)

This is an excellent character-driven movie. A fantastic effort by rookie director Marc Esposito. The movie is about the complex relationships between men and women. If you liked the "taste of others" (le gout des autres) you will like this movie. Guaranteed. The characters are easy to get drawn to. At the end, we are left wanting more. A sequel, please Marc ;) Good movie, great acting, good plot. 8/10

Excellent film!

This movie came with perfect timing. I was currently viewing really awful movies and this was a welcome break. Characters were so well-developed, it almost feels like if I go to France, I will meet Jeff, Antoine, Manu or Alex on the streets. Everything was so simple but it touched the heart. That's why this movie works! Because it shows how life that's so simple can become complicated through the choices we make.

Dialogue is also very witty and natural. Direction was superb. It was amazing how he can make a scene where the four of them simply stare off at the beach from a simple one to an emotion-filled scene. Superb acting from all of the actors. Everything was done nicely. I was so sad when the end credits rolled. I wanted more! I guess I'll just have to wait for more movies from Esposito.

surprisingly engaging film about men and friendship

This is a story of 4 men--who meet on a regular basis,share a friendship that has seen good times and bad. It is a refreshing tale about french men (and their women).

I enjoyed this film thoroughly because it gave me an insight into the heart of men--their emotions, reactions, foibles, games...and also how they committed to support each other and in one case, challenge one of the guys to forgive his "wayward" wife.

I did not want the movie to end when it did as I wanted to see more of their interaction. The actors were well-chosen,they seemed to share a friendship on a personal basis as well. Good story, good acting...

This is a great movie

Unlike the other reporter, I found this movie really great. This should be considered as one of the best movies of the years 2000 and is definitely (and undoubtedly) a lot better than an average American TV-movie (I don't even know how somebody could consider it that low, unless he doesn't like french movies at all...?). Like usual all four actors make the movie great, but the plot is good as well. The mood of the story just travels you to another planet and leaves you with a feeling of happiness. My only advice to you is to watch it and over again. Also, the original soundtracks contains some great jewels of music and make this movie even better.

Interesting & realistic study of male friendships

I completely disagree with pvsp in his review. This film examines four forty-year old males and their relationships with women & with each other. As such, it is in turn, strong, profane, comic, & even moving. The plot is the kind I like--impossible to predict and feels very, very real.

Most of the actors were unfamiliar to me, but they hit the mark every time. In particular, there is Bernard Campan (he plays the husband whose wife is unfaithful to him) who turns in a subtle, nuanced performance.

Only criticism I would have is that, since each of the men has relationships with two women, it's hard to keep the female characters straight in one's mind. But that's a small caveat.

I know I'm not the only person to feel positive towards this film, as they are currently filming a sequel in Paris !
