J'ai toujours voulu être une sainte

OK, it's the only one I've seen. But it was a touching coming-of-ageish type story. Guess I was in a sentimental mood when I saw it at the European Union Film Festival at the Kennedy Center. Go see it if you can find it!

"I Always Wanted to be a Saint" is one of the most moving and brilliant films I've seen in years. The storyline is done well, keeping you on you're toes but never pushing unnecessary boundaries. The camera work is well done, alluding, like most of the film, to the French New Wave. This is most evident in the brilliant character development, that calls back to films such as "the 400 Blows" and "L'Avventura". Marie Kremer will you leave you in tears at the end of the film. Her performance is incredible, the audience becomes attached to her at the start of the film, and everything she goes through hits the audience as hard as it hits her. Kremer balanced the line between stable and unstable. There are moments where the audience can look in her eyes and see more emotions than they knew existed. It is a film that will stay with you and affect you long after watching it.
