The fact that the more recently-released
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020) serves as a direct sequel to
Crash Bandicoot: Warped (1998) does not completely retcon the events of this game; this game is still set following the events of
Crash Bandicoot: Warped (1998), albeit as an indirect sequel. Furthermore, despite the 100% completion epilogue of
Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (2020) establishing some plot holes that contradict the original timeline (such as Dr. N. Brio getting stuck on display in a museum in his pterodactyl form without any explanation as to how he becomes human again by his next appearance in tt0408642),
Paul Yan has confirmed that this game is still canon, as are the other games that made up the original timeline (
Crash Twinsanity (2004),
Crash of the Titans (2007), and
Crash: Mind Over Mutant (2008)).
