Vietnam Veedu

Vietnam Veedu is one of those very rare tamil movies in which the tamil brahmin community is not ridiculed.

The film was adapted from a very successful play. It is ably directed by Sundaram.

Sivaji ganesan has given a very good performance but his tendency to over act is the jarring part, specially the climax. Also, in his eagerness to speak the brahmin lingo, he stretches a few words & in the process overdoes the accent.

The other actors play their parts well, but Padmini overtakes even sivaji in over play. She frequently keeps fiddling with her madisar, maybe she felt uncomfortable.

The "palakaattu pakkathile" song is overdone.

But for people who love melodrama, this is the film for you.

It can be complimented for one thing though - It does not portray the brahmin community as cowards./villains.

First of all, Sivaji is the pioneer of acting in India. And this film is at his best level. Watch this film even though you don't know the language, just look out for sivaji's facial expressions. Don't miss the climax scene, after all it's a wonderful drama. If you would like to see the classic films, then this film is for you. Please don't consider the songs, but watch the old fox's acting. Really glad that these guys have delivered quality film in Noir stage. Wonderful casting by everyone which includes, padmini, nagesh, srikanth. Good re-recording and narration script is really a bonus for this film.

Looking forward to deliver this kind of films by the present film-makers.

Happened to watch this during layoffs at 2022 and wonder how relevant this is even at this time... Sivaji is not overacting as many says... That's the emotional turmoil one and his family go through at such times... I wish such event should not happen to a commendable person at the office. DO WATCH!!
