Bret Hart said he would have preferred having a ladder match with his brother Owen at this event, instead of the cage match that ultimately took place. The cage match format was decided upon, due to Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon already having used Bret's idea for their own ladder match at WrestleMania X (1994), a few months prior.

Final WWF PPV appearance for Headshrinker Samu. He would soon after be released from the company, allegedly due to his excessive partying and no showing several live events, as well as his hatred for the storyline of Captain Lou Albano trying to humanize the Headshrinkers. Samu would eventually be replaced in the team by Sione Vailahi, who had been working WWF house shows as The Barbarian for three months prior to returning to TV as the new Headshrinker member.

Originally, Barry Windham was supposed to return to the WWF, re-team with his brother in-law Mike Rotunda (Irwin R. Schyster) as "New Money Incorporated", be managed by Ted DiBiase, and feud with Lex Luger and Tatanka, which would involve having a Chicago Street Fight at this event. But, Windham suffered a knee injury while wrestling Ric Flair at WCW Slamboree 1994 (1994) and was forced out of the angle. So, Luger requested he wanted Tatanka to turn heel and have a feud with him, to which the WWF agreed.
