For a decade, drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs hosted the show Joe Bob’s Drive-in Theater on The Movie Channel – and when that show came to an end in 1996, it was okay, because Joe Bob was able to go right over to hosting the show MonsterVision on TNT. MonsterVision ended in 2000, and that was the real heartbreaker, because Joe Bob would not have another show for a long time. Joe Bob Briggs is celebrating a scary impressive milestone.

The iconic cult movie host has set the 200th episode of his Shudder series “The Last Drive-In,” which will be a Halloween extravaganza called “Joe Bob’s Splatterween.” The celebration will air on the horror streamer on Oct. 24, and outrageous costumed rockers Gwar will make a special appearance.

Per the official logline: “Halloween is gonna be messy this year! Joe Bob and Darcy are joined by the interdimensional rock legends of Gwar for Splatterween — a night filled with spew, goo, live music, and of course: two nasty flicks busting at the seams with Splatter Fu!”

The special is part of Shudder’s “Season of Screams,” the streamer’s biggest programming event of the year, which is set to, per a press release, “feature a monster lineup of new series, films and live watch parties from September 1 through December 31.”

After the massive success of "The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs," Shudder just announced that Joe Bob will return! Shudder took to social media to make the announcement that they're bringing Joe Bob Briggs back later this year:

"Due to overwhelming demand, we’re bringing @joebobbriggsofficial back later this year! Stay tuned for details - the drive in will never die!"

Obviously, we'll have more details as they become available. And for those that didn't have a chance to take part in The Last Drive-In, Shudder has made all of the movie available on their service, with plans to add The Last Drive-In editions of the movies that screened to their channels on Amazon and Roku in the very near future.
