Better than the first, but not by much...

After watching the disaster called The Brotherhood, I vowed I would not watch any of the sequels. I guess curiosity got the best of me because there I was buying Brotherhood II on PPV. The acting and dialogue were much better than the first movie; however, the plot was missing entirely from this film. At least the first Brotherhood had some potential to be better than it was.

Also, I wouldn't call this a sequel. The first movie had a Dracula theme. This movie has a completely different set of young actors and focuses on witchcraft. If you are expecting any wand waving or hocus pocus, you will be sadly disappointed. About the only magical transformation you'll see is 3 dweebs become the most popular in school, and yet still remain only marginal looking.

If this movie is directed toward a gay audience, I don't see the point in wrapping up overt homoeroticism in an otherwise heterosexual plot. That's what makes The Brotherhood movies so frustrating and unrealistic to watch. Let the guys lust after each other already! And for gosh sakes, give these actors something other than cheap white boxer-briefs to run around in. Unless you've got the time and money to blow on this flick, don't bother.

Cheap, gay-friendly high school horror

David DeCoteau's second film in the lengthy BROTHERHOOD series is a marginal improvement on the first, but that's really not saying much. Once again the story sees a bunch of high school students - who are in reality warlocks - attempting to introduce new members into their group. Inevitably some of the evil characters are murderous and go around bumping off peripheral characters until the good guys step up to do something about them.

It seems that the budget for THE BROTHERHOOD 2: YOUNG WARLOCKS was slightly improved over the first, as the production values are slightly stronger. Unfortunately, there are even MORE endless scenes of young muscle guys parading around in their underwear here, as well as a three-way sex scene between two guys and a girl (what else?) which seems to last a lifetime. The whole thing is poorly acted and silly, just an excuse for the director to appeal to gay men who also have a tolerance for Z-grade produce.

Joe Boxer should be paid royalties...

Well, here we have The Brotherhood II: Young Warlocks. Somehow, between the first one and this one, they've changed from vampires to warlocks, even though the "baddie" is supposed to have been in the first film. But, then again, you can't really look to deeply at this movie if you want it to make any sense. Lets just say that again, DeCoteau has filled one of his movies with a bunch of cute boys running around in their boxer briefs, and not much else. Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but at least try to have a little bit of an interesting story to surround all that naked, well toned flesh.

I'll be honest, I enjoyed the first Brotherhood, and was looking forward to seeing this one, but found it to be a major let down. Just like the first movie, the main lead (Sean Faris..."John") is gorgeous. He's got an undeniable cuteness that, if he plays it right, will move him on to bigger and better things (he's already started...he extra'd in Pearl Harbor). Stacey Scowley (Mary) is also surprisingly good in her role. She also has the potential to really break out. (I kept thinking of Meg Ryan - no joke - while watching her). The rest of the cast, however, leaves a lot to be desired.

Luke is the "new kid" at a posh private school, and sets out recruiting a group of outcast friends for his coven he's trying to start. One "lets all get naked and jump in the pool" scene later, and wham-bam, he's got his warlocks. Only now John wants out. Oh, and did I tell you that there's also sub-plots that involve a militant head mistress and a rather cute bully named Harlan who's group never wears shirts, and gets the proverbial "what they deserve" routine? Well, there are. A teacher also figures into all this somehow, but I couldn't tell you how even if I tried...and I just finished watching the movie 30 minutes ago!

To make a long story short, The Brotherhood II: Young Warlocks is a movie that has a couple cute guys in their underwear, bad acting, rotten dialogue, many unanswered questions, and totally ridiculous plot twists. Take my advise, stick with the first film. That wasn't a masterpiece by any means, but it at least tried to be a good movie.

My grade: C- (It'd be a "D-", but I still think Sean Faris is a hottie!)

It's bad, no it's worse than bad, it's horrible

What a complete waste of time watching this movie was, bad acting, no suspense at all, very predictable situations, not even one "magical" special effect..... and don't even let me start about the terrible make-up, everyone, man and woman, is wearing the same make-up!!

* out of 4.

New kid at school gets a group of school nerds and outcasts (who are mighty hunky and good looking for nerds!) to join his coven and get revenge on all of those who have done them wrong in the past, but with a serious price however. Lots and lots of cute, sexy young men who can't be no older then 24 running around in there underwear or getting naked in the pool, but little else. Still it is very sexy, but just don't expect anything in the way of decent entertainment.

*Shudder* This movie *Shudder*

I love bad movies, I revel in them, I like to think I am ironclad when it comes to them, but this is a shocking piece of trash.

I think my main problem was I came into this blind, picked out of a box of free movies that Blockbuster had thrown out, I was expecting some silly, glossy teen horror. What I got was underage gay porn, with the actual porn cut out.

This is a movie about attractive young male models. They play everybody, the cool kids are played by male models with clean hair, the nerdy outcast kids by male models with greasy hair. These models do not wear shirts if they can get away with it, and even better for the director is if he can find a way to get them into their nice tight underwear. Or out of it.

There is nothing wrong with having some sort of suggestion of there being a homosexual attraction between the young attractive males. However that is all this movie is. That is 100% what the director cares about. There is no horror. The black magic aspect contradicts itself over and over. Anyone who is not an underage looking male is barely given screentime. Even during a 'seduce the wanton female scene' we quickly transfer to some more male on male fun.

Watching some middle age man's fantasies about underage males is very little fun, at least for me. Avoid like the plague.

Awful!

What a waste of time. This movie goes nowhere. The acting is so bad it was almost painful to watch. These students in the film look more like thirtysomething than teenagers. If the film itself is not bad enough the ending is even worse. It makes absolutely no sence at all. The editing cuts so deep that scenes just end and your not sure what happened. The whole movie had such a homosexual vibe. I just did not get it. I don't get it...

Baywatch-type movie, but for girls. Hanes must of sponsored the movie.

This is a really really bad movie. I don't know if the director is gay or what, but the movie came close to being a gay porn several times. (no I'm not homophobic.)

The reason why it's like Baywatch is because of the apparent attempt to make the guys look "sexy" by having them in their underwear half the movie. You know how Baywatch goes in "slow motion" when the girls start running and the main focus is on the women's breast? Well, Brotherhood II uses the same cheesy attempts.

I never saw the first one, but there's no way I'm going to see it after watching the second one.

not-so-latent homo erotica

If you are a Lowell High School class of 1996 alumn, then you might find this film interesting. Also, this movie over does the homo erotica bit, such as the scene where the boys must lick the warlock's face in order to join his coven.

Well, it's okay if you consider watching an underwear campaign advertising with some story-line on it.

Before we go any further, I must claim; `The Brotherhood II: The Young Warlock' isn't really a sequel, but a follow up from the original. If the first one tells about a male vampire attempt to find his followers among some hunky males, so the second one tells about a male witch attempt to find his followers among some hunky males!

That's right, `The Brotherhood II: The Young Warlock' is barely having any plot at all. It just illustrates a bunch of males in their underwear and does some lame acting. Even there's a gorgeous girl there, but the actual eroticisms are happening among these guys, and I must admit the male actors are `act so good' in their erotic scenes.

`Brotherhood II: The Young Warlock' is a so-called horror movies and the thrill is only adhere. There's no gruesome gore, cutting-edge FX, or twisted plot. The horror tensions build by it themes and some PG-13 violence. The main issue here is the guys in their underwear (!) and the homoeroticism theme it has. These aren't strange because the director, David DeCoteau is well-known for those certain rules his possess. Just check the original Brotherhood or `The Voodoo Academy', or for more back past, go watch some of the Puppet Master installment. One thing to notice here, even the film feel so sexy, there's no nudity or hardcore sex scene. Just some people do the erotic flirting.

However, the product design is truly below average, but funny though, as a lame horror movie, `Brotherhood II: The Young Warlock' still manage to entertain, even in a cheesy one, as long as you don't bother with the dull plot and the homosexuality situations. Despite of those, `Brotherhood II: The Young Warlock' is still a cure for your insomniacs or boredom.

fantastic!

another classic gay fest from Mr Decoutu himself! this legendary gay director shows off his talents once more in this continuation in the amazing 'brotherhood' series, which contains 4 films, each one as wonderfully suggestive as the last. although the acting isn't great, it adds to the whole feel of the film in what is essentially soft gay porn. with less crotch rubbing than the later film 'voodoo academy' and more classic lines that the unimpressive 'ring of darkness' this film is hilarious without meaning to be and well worth the watch if you and your friends love crap films with classic lines that will leave you breathless and in awe at the total lack of genius in the script but ironically this is what makes it all the more legendary!!! i highly recommend this and anything from the brotherhood series

Better than the first. Still flawed, though.

Forrest Cochran is an excellent actor, and portrayed the character of Luc with professionalism and depth. Much more intense than the Character of Devon played by Bradley Stryker in the first movie. His look is mysterious, handsome and has a hidden evil streak behind it. Excellent performance. I would love to see him in a big-budget movie. I believe he could pull it off.

Sean Faris, (John) is obnoxiously good-looking (similar to Nathan Watkins as Chris in the first one). He still isn't that bad an actor, but could use a little work. He could be in bigger pictures.

The rest of the Cast is...there! The Characer of Harlan is played in a bland way, and the actor looks more like a PlayGirl Centerfold than an actor. His two cronies are horrible actors, and should pursue a different career path.

The Character of Mary is okay, but there is no depth to here. Seeing as director David Decoteau only makes these movies to put chiseled, defined guys in their underwear is the main focus. Not enough time and effort is put into the plot. However, This installment into the Brotherhood series proves more, dare I say, intelligent than the first. It has a little more depth, but dies at the end like the first did.

Overall, this one was much better than the first. Give more back story to the character of Luc, and acted much better than the first. Okay, so you can make an erotic horror movie...But what is so erotic about guys in their underwear. They is the thing that fetish's are made of. Not eroticism. Maybe just homoeroticism!

Like Boyz to Men, it's Vampires to Warlocks

Well sure, it's kinda cheesy, but it would do OK for a late night cable movie. The wardrobe is cool, much better than the dialogue. Not a movie I would recommend to an empowered female (they mainly are just "candy", and not the "eye kind" in this movie).

Light on plot, not that I was looking for anything deep, but I definitely liked the first one better. Still, not a bad rental if it's a slow movie week.

Cheap and Nasty

I like horror films, films about magic and films about warlocks, but this is a cheap and nasty effort, with scenes that are too long, inappropriate synthesizer music that is too loud and bad acting. Don't be fooled by the slick cover. This is rubbish.

Even less impressive than the first...

THE BROTHERHOOD 2: YOUNG WARLOCKS (2001)

(UK: Young Warlocks)

Aspect ratio: 2.39:1 (Lomoscope)

Sound format: Stereo

A group of high school outcasts are given strange powers by an influential new student (Forrest Cochran) who turns out to be a murderous demon...

Unrelated follow-up to THE BROTHERHOOD (2000) amounts to more of the same, though there's even less beefcake on display, and most of the guys aren't all that attractive anyway. The one exception is former model Sean Faris, playing an innocent pawn in Cochran's devilish plot, though director David DeCoteau takes little advantage of Faris' radiant beauty. As with the original, the narrative is weighed down by acres of mind-numbing dialogue, sparked by a studs-in-underwear finale and the "Brotherhood" series' signature episode, in which two near-naked hunks 'ravish' a hypnotized young girl, staged and photographed in a manner which suggests one guy is actually seducing the other. If the movie wasn't such a poorly-conceived tease (just like the first one), this might actually be worth a damn, but it just lies there and dies there. Followed by THE BROTHERHOOD 3: YOUNG DEMONS (2002).

It's Good to be Bad

This sequel to 2000's surprise video hit "The Brotherhood" shifts the focus from vampires to warlocks as yet another innocent young guy (Sean Faris, "Pearl Harbor") learns of a sinister attempt to bring the forces of evil to a campus college.

Not a real horror movie by any standards, but this movie is only directed at a certain audience -- as evidenced by the many scenes of the cast stipping and in their boxer briefs.

Also stars Forrest Cochran from the original "Brotherhood" movie playing a different character, and hot newcomers C.J. Thomason, Justin Allen and Greg Lyczkowski.

OK--Much better than the first

Three misfits at Chandler Academy are seduced by newcomer Luke--a strong, silent guy. It seems he's a warlock and needs fresh, young bodies to stay alive.

A followup (NOT a sequel)to "The Brotherhood" is actually an improvement on the first. Like the original, this is just an excuse to show hunky, young guys in their underwear. The homoeroticism has been upped (especially in the shower and pool scenes) and this even has a little bit more violence. The story moves quickly, it is well-directed (excellent use of wide screen) and there are two good performances by Forrest Cochran as Luke and Sean Faris as John. Everybody else, however, is terrible.

So, this is a passable time waster--especially for us gay guys!

not as good as the first

I really enjoyed the 1st Brotherhood, and was excited to hear that there was a 2nd and 3rd. Then I watched them

The acting is poor, although some descent eye candy in the form of Holly Sampson and stacey Scowley. it would have been better if there had been osme continuity to the 3 films, I mean even the Puppet Master films had continuity to them (well Mostly) the ending was a little dull, but its a okay flick to watch if you have nothing better to do and have 90mins to pass.

Oh... My.... God....

holy god that was awful....i picked it up expecting a decent film, credited only as Young Warlocks (i had no idea it was part of a seris)i expected some sort of male "the craft" (obviously leaving out the part that a male witch isnt called a warlock...hes called a witch) how wrong was i to expect a good film! Half naked men running around not even very attractive men at that, splashing each other in the pool.....the homosexual tendencies are many in this film ....wooden performances is a understatement, i like tacky films really i do....but this sucked!

however saying that i did like the fact the boxers relfected the guys personality...this film is in desperate need of an edit it moved fast at the start , too fast, but then it slowed down to a crawl before cramming in action near the finish.. for gods sake people its not worth watching! dont do it!!!!

One of Decoteau's finest! It's like a movie catalogue of Joe Boxers Models

I was surprised to find out, after watching the movie, that David Decoteau has made countless movies before this. Not to mention the puppet master movies I loved as a kid. Anyway, I wont be like other critics and say that David Decoteau does nothing but fill his movies with eye candy actors/actresses,I even wonder where he gets these people, they simply look good on screen although we can see very well that theyre a bit amateur and that theyre first timers. But where else do big stars get their first breaks? On B movies of course! The Brotherhood 2:Young Warlocks, is a story about a new guy in a small private school. Sure he gets harassed, almost raped in the bathroom, almost killed but he sure does get by. He has his own 'gang',who seem to be a bunch of lame ass idiots at first but then seems to gain "strength".The lighting on this movie isn't adequate, thus giving off the eerie sense that it is literally "dark" and foreboding. Also the make up effects arent that good. But who cares since you wont be seeing monsters until the final parts. As a big B movie fan I highly suggest you to borrow this on vcr and get ready for a night of funny, hilarious and not to mention serious eye popping.

Getting There!

David DeCoteau has the best way of making seductive movies by pulling off before it hits the climax. The Brotherhood 2: Young Warlocks is good, but some of the characters didn't look good for the part. This movie was even cheesier then the other, but what makes this better is that their isn't as much cheesy conversations as their was in the first one. Forrest Cochran is back in this movie and was in the first Brotherhood movie and was supposed to die in the other one, but it seems he didn't and now he moves to a catholic school and seduces three guys to join his brotherhood. He then seduces a girl to get one of the guys going and start having what the group wanted. As Luc(Forrest Cochran) tells the group they most kill someone they hate to fulfill the brotherhood. One of the members of the group disapproves and finds a way to stop the madness, by quitting this little brotherhood, but isn't as easy as he thought it would be. The plot was somewhat like the first Brotherhood movie. They always seduce this girl and two guys start kissing her and all that other stuff. David DeCoteau should find a different way to make the stories longer and better and a little less sci-fi or the unreal. They are interesting though!
