Paul Is Dead

Does anyone out there have a copy of the one-sheet for this movie (the poster used to promote it)? I'm an author (Andru Reeve) who wrote about this film in a book and now I would like to own and frame a one-sheet for my office. Will pay big bucks...

Now, on to the movie. "Paul Is Dead" is a coming-of-age tale that revolves uniquely around the famous fable of Beatle Paul McCartney's death. Although this rumor took place in the late 60s, the action in this film is moved forward 11 years to 1980 and a small town in Germany. A young boy, through an amazing concatenation of events, comes to believe that Paul is not only dead, but that he was MURDERED by an Englishman named Billy Shears. And Mr. Shears is right there, in young Tobias's tiny German hamlet! Tobias becomes a sleuth as he tries to figure out what is going on. At the same time, he grows up, passing from the lightheartedness of childhood into the harsh reality of the adult world. The film is both moving and oddly charming. A perfect "10". Can't wait to see this director's first Hollywood effort!

The movie is very very good but the ending is kind of predictable. It is very good though. Recommended for anyone who likes the PID theory

I was really impressed by this movie.

The key actors were marvelous, the directing was either sharp or light when needed and the writing really imaginative. I especially enjoyed all those little touches of 1980's Germany.

Excellent 'nuff said. If you haven't seen it yet go watch it.

ZDF films used to play on the state channel in my country during my childhood. (TRT) Of course, I learned years later that these were German productions because we watched them all in Turkish. What I mean is; I'm not too far from the ZDF line, and we also benefited from ZDF productions during my education at "Deutsche Schule Istanbul".

Although this Henk Handloegten film was made after that period of my life (2000), the subject it tells about covers my childhood period, listening to Beatles on vinyl, making mixed tapes, winding tapes with pencils so that the sony walkman's battery doesn't run out, etc...

Henk Handloegten tells a very consistent and very simple story in just 1 hour. Unlike my father, I'm not a huge Beatles listener, but this film is much more than that anyway.
