Like 'em or not, the mainstream nightly broadcasts still draw around 30 million viewers a night... so they're still relevant in American life.

As for balance, talent and the ability to effectively use 22 minutes per show..I'd say on merit they fare well... though like any form of information/entertainment they could always do better.

Still, I'd take Brian Williams over the rest any day.

Correspondents by and large (men and women like Tim Russert, Andrea Mitchell et al... and anchors like Brian, Lester Holt, Matt Lauer et al may not have all the answers but they at the very least they do reach out to millions of Americans and try to provide context, perspective and hopefully a snapshot of our nation.

Best of all, they're going to get better because viewers are becoming more sophisticated and with so many choices along the viewing landscape broadcast networks had better improve or they'll face extinction.

I've been watching NBC Nightly News for the majority of my life, and have found Lester Holt to be the best host thus far. In an era plagued by partisanship from the shameless far-right bias and downright promotion of falsehoods on Fox News, to the solid leftward bend of MSNBC, Lester Holt provides a return to the era objective news so many Americans long for. Holt and the team of correspondents consistently manage to push aside politics and their own political beliefs (many of which can be easily found simply by watching them on MSNBC during the day) to provide coverage that only the most partisan of partisan hacks could describe as biased. I myself identify as a proud Democrat, but perhaps to my surprise recently I found out that Lester Holt had been a registered Republican for most of his life up until 2018. The fact that I never noticed this while watching, and would never describe Holt's coverage as "too conservative" or "right leaning" is a true testament to his character. For anyone who feels lost and disaffected by the partisanship of Fox and MSNBC, or just the sensationalism of CNN, I highly recommend this newscast. Lester Holt has, and will continue to be one of the greats.

A not believe your station cancels weekly showing to air trash, and then your cast members talk trash about an ex president. I don't pay for tv to listen to your station side with a bunch of liars. Makes me sick that your station supports these idiots and liars. They stole one election and now they want to flip the script. Why don't you all air what was found on the ship that was stuck in the Panama, you know all the kids they had trafficked. All of these democratic politicians had their hands in it. You all should be ashamed of your selfs for support a side that has ruined our economy and gotten rich off the people.

Growing up as a kid when watching the news my family always for some reason had the choice of the peacock. Yes "NBC Nightly News" it was and I feel maybe one of the reasons was anchor Tom Brokaw, he was so professional and his voice just caught your attention. And Tom just had the look of your average newsman. The reporting and stories were always good both domestic and international no matter what was covered if it was politics, war, social issues the stories and interviews, and reports were entertaining and educational. I remember John Chancellor as a educated political voice that gave his thoughts and opinions and Brian Williams now the head was always good in his sub duty. Though now NBC news has leaned to the liberal left and I've turned to FOX News certainly in it's yesterday NBC News ruled the ranks of the big network three, at least in the opinion of me and my family.

I grew up watching your news every night. That's when you reported the real news affecting us Americans. You all now seem to have a fake agenda. So sad to totally destroy your history of real news.

Six year old boy shoots teacher.

We are tired of listening to the six year old boy shooting the teacher in Newport news. What happened to the parents. They are fully responsible for a minor. No one ever announces anything about the parents. They need to be taken to jail for of abuse of a minor. I am a parent of two, and I have never left my children alone or out of sight. I checked the school bags daily on Homeworks lunches and everything else.

Let us know what happened to the parents or if there are any no one ever heard anything about them this is only half the news. We would like to know who is responsible for the six year old.

I usually watch until I see how absurd this news show is. I always end up laughing at how biased the show is. There ARE bad people out there. I don't care what race or color someone is, but if they rob a store, are in a high speed police chase, are on drugs and resist arrest, they deserve to be arrested and apprehended in any way necessary. Let the police do their jobs, and report the news, and not your agenda NBC. I'm not saying anyone deserves to die, but if they get a black eye or bloody nose during arrest... it's NOT news.

If you want to watch a news anchor who plays bass with creedence clearwater revival, during the news report, look no farther. You may have to put up with a sneaky suspicion, that he is a GD liberal, but I will admit to not having a firm grasp on politics. CCR is probably a bunch of liberals too, if the amount of marijuana use you influence, can be a indicator of political stance. It's nice for me to see someone responsible for something as dire as the news, come from what seems to be a standard economic position. I don't know where he comes from, but he seems more interested in gas price, than the stock market.

NBC Nightly News on October 1st, 2024 intentionally left out the Pete Rose passing while reporting the death of John Amos on the same show! WHY? The local NBC affiliate spent 10-15 minutes on Pete on 9/30/2024 AND 10/1/2024! Pete can't even get a mention by the "most trusted" Lester Holt??? Despite his misdeeds, betting on baseball & conviction..MOST people recognize him as the GOAT of baseball & he still holds the record for the most hits & games played.

Where was one of Lester's little personal opinion quips he has added in over the last few years because he feels his audience is too stupid to "get it" without him commenting? I guess the quips were missing because a story is needed first! Pete Rose has paid for his mistakes & most people have forgiven him & will regard him as the greatest of all time until his many records are broken, if ever. Even if there were too many news events of the day to Include Pete..you still reported the death of someone else on the same broadcast!

I'm assuming NBC had to know he passed away! Intentionally not reporting Rose' death is lying by ommission and I will never watch a Lester's Holt broadcast again! I'm 74 years old and have seen few stories so big that were glaringly left out. It was extremely irresponsible & reckless & I invite you to try and explain & maybe even apologize for your negligence on your next Nightly News with Lester Holt broadcast!

Im sitting here watching NBC N.N. and they use a false statement by saying update on missing student Molly, Some of her items have been found. (Paraphrasing). Then they give the story and say what was left at her boyfriends house while she went running and by the end of the story you realize you've been lied too, but this is just a Tuesday for the news, Lies are all they know. And worse id their producer is ok with all the lies and misleading crap that comes out of their mouths. People are as stupid as you think we are, we know when we are being mislead, we knew before Trump ever said it, the media lies, lies , lies. Someone of substance needs to stand for truthful and honest reporting, but I suppose those people are fired early in their career.

At this point , I watch this "show" more for how ridiculously it reports its so called news . How Lester does this without cracking up laughing or vomiting is a skill in itself . It pushes an agenda so hard that to believe its non bias should be classified as a mental disability . This is Propaganda at its finest.

March 31st, 2022. NBC Nightly New brings to light the Hunter Biden investigation into tax fraud that leads to the infamous laptop. Sorry Lester but you're about 17months too late. Heard most of this during the Presidential debates but not on NBC. When a news network sits on the facts I pick up the remote.

I'm not a democrats. Now I know why this show only has about 5/10, because trump supporter expels his faeces at there. You can found a review which wrote by trump supporter. There are umpteen video of presidential debate on the internet, why this trump supporter just wrote his insane comment at there? Only review about NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt should be write at there, right? Trump just lost the first presidential candidate debate, because of his lack of knowledge about political debate. Hillary knew how to beat him one on one. "Fair?" I remember there are lots of critical comment about the "fair concept" of socialism. Why this trump supporter think a artificial debate, moderated by human, can be absolutely fair? He should just ask Trump study more, not to say bulls at there. Hope Trump has a better performance at second presidential candidate debate.
