Psithiroi Kardias was a major hit in Greek TV when it was aired hitting record viewing numbers. And not without a good reason. The production quality is really good for a Greek TV series with many outdoor shots, the plot is intriguing regarding its depiction of the gypsies way of living in Greece and the cast is quite strong. Anna Maria Paraharampous is charming and stunning in her role as Erato. Of course some parts are cheesy, exaggerated and predictable but that nevertheless doesn't ruin the fun. What is also remarkable about this series is that it stands the test of time. I used to watch some epeisodes when it was aired and I was a kid and then after many years I decided to watch an episode just for the sake of it and I got hooked, rewatching the whole thing.
As a side note I think that IMDBs balancing algorithm doesn't work well in movies/series with a small number of votes. I am well aware that they have a filter for excessive of 1s and 10s and they do some kind of weighting so they are not showing the true average, but in this case it is clear that the 5 is nowhere near the real average nor representative of the vote distribution.
