Little Bill: A Decent Children's Show for Learning Life Lessons, But Lacks Excitement and Visual Appeal

After careful consideration, I recently had the opportunity to watch the children's show "Little Bill," I would rate it a 6 out of 10. While the show has a few positive aspects, such as its focus on family values and educational messages, it was slow-paced and lacked excitement. The animation style is also quite simplistic and may not appeal to those who enjoy visually stimulating shows. However, I appreciate the effort put into creating relatable characters and showcasing the challenges children face in their everyday lives. The show does an excellent job of teaching important life lessons and promoting positive values, which is admirable.

Moreover, the show's depiction of family relationships and interactions is quite realistic and relatable, which is excellent for young children. Despite its flaws, I believe that Little Bill is a decent show for young children as it teaches valuable life lessons in an engaging and accessible way. However, it may not be the most engaging option for older kids or adults who prefer more action-packed shows with complex storylines and dynamic characters.

AN ABSOLUTE JOY!!

ADORABLE!! INTELLIGENT!!! FUNNY!!! My 2 year old adores it and I do as well. First of all... the artwork (animation) is incredible. Fabrics literally come to life! The characters are compassionate, loving, and teach children and adults alike the values of family, friendship, education and creativity. The themes are beautifully written and the lessons learned are invaluable. What a lucky boy Little Bill is to have such a wonderful family. We also own all his books and my son loves them equally. I recommend this series and the books to children and adults alike. Thank you Mr. Cosby and all involved in this wonderful show!

Definitely a losing show

You would think a PhD in Education would actually help Bill Cosby create a show worth letting your kids watch. I'm very disappointed in this show. I remember when it first came out and I thought it would be great for my son to watch. My son has Autism. He knew more at 5 than Little Bill. I have no clue where the writers get their material; but they either have kids of their own with low IQs, or they are just never around real 5 year olds. I have a three year old now, and she knows as much as (or even more than) Little Bill. That's pretty sad. The only show that seems to compare to Little Bill is Caillou. Both shows center around whiny kids who can't understand why the world isn't revolving around them. But the kids never change. How can a character NOT evolve? Watching this show is not a pleasure. I was hoping over the years the writers would actually learn how a five year old really acts. That has not happened. Spare yourself the torture and watch just about anything else. There are a few other shows I hate as much, but I'd rather watch Oswald and listen to Fred Savage sing off key and off tempo than this nonsense.

Still good

As lazy as the animation looked. I love the story and all the moral values they teach us. This show also encouraged kids to develop their imagination skills. In some episodes little bill have these crazy imagination and kids use that as an example.

Lazy and poorly animated

Isn't it possible to make an educational series that is consistent with the human being? Isn't it possible to create nice animations in addition? I think so, but this series didn't make it. Poorly.

Charming!

This is a really sweet, charming cartoon based on Bill Cosby's childhood. The animation is unique and evocative of the era. I especially love the relationship between Little Bill and his great-grandmother, whom he calls Alice the Great. A nice little family show.

Fantastic Children's Program

Little Bill is such a wonderful program for children! My 3-year old loves it and I love the wonderful concepts that the show teaches. I hope that this program is around for a long time. I want my children to believe that we're all equal no matter what our cultural background and this show provides just that. I recommend it to everyone I know! Thank you to Mr. Cosby and his writing team for their wonderful insight into the incredible curiosities of children and how they look at the world. I especially love that the cultural diversity spans over several cultures. Children learn by good examples and this show provides plenty of good values to live by. This show is truly amazing!

Really cute, fun, entertaining, and educational show

Wow! This is a really cute, fun, entertaining, and educational show. I said that because I watch this on what's now Nick Junior with my now 9-year-old nephew from time to time. It's hard to say which show on Nick Junior is the best. If I had to pick, this would definitely be one of the cutest. Still it's really cute, fun, entertaining, and educational. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that the people at Nick Junior really know how to reach a toddler's developing mind. Now, in conclusion, if you have children, nieces, or nephews, I strongly recommend this really cute, fun, entertaining, and educational show. I guarantee you that they will enjoy it.

Very Good Show

Unlike the commenter before me, I think Little Bill is a very nice show for toddlers and pre-schoolers. He acts just like real children do, with wild imagination. The show teaches children to be kind, and generous. And by the way, "Hello friend", is a phrase Bill Cosby's deceased son used to use all the time.

This is a great show for kids!

This is a great show for kids, again I say for kids. Of course to adults it may seem stupid, but it's not meant for adults it's meant for kids. It teaches children to use their imagination, to be creative, and to accept anyone. In fact my daughter and I just watched one where Little Bill's friend Monty comes to visit. Monty is in a wheelchair and this shows children that even though some one may be a little different they can still be your friend. This is something I think every one could learn from.

Lil Underrated

Lil Bill is an underrated cool cat cartoon show created by the legendary TV producer and comedian Bill Cosby.

This show is what children shows should be like. Cool, calm and So Cool.

Lil Billy is about a child learning about the world in a Brooklyn City environment.

Its very educational, with lovely music. The animation is fine. Could be better in some places.

Bill Cosby is a Genius.

Verdict: Cool Cat show.

Check It Out Friend

In case you're wondering, the title of my review comes from the catchphrase (hello friend) of the title character of this wonderful show, because if I were to describe Little Bill in one word it would be wonderful. Everything is simply wonderful, including the felt-like animation and the truly adorable story lines. I especially like Little Bill's relationship with his grandmother, who he calls Alice the Great. In fact, Bill has many great people in his life, including his parents, Alice the Great, his brother Bobby and sister April, his teacher, his friends Andrew, Monty, Kiku, and Fuschia, his neighbours, and his hamster named Elephant. Another thing that I really like is Bill's voice, he really sounds like a little boy, and he truly is a sweet child and a relatable one as well. While watching this growing up and even watching today, I'm able to relate to Little Bill experiencing such things as swinging, having snacks and being a snack helper at school, having playdates, and learning to read, and have memories of doing such things myself. There is just so much to like about this show, it simply radiates pure innocence. So check it out friend, if you haven't already.

Educational realistic fun for all

Most children's TV is rather inane and annoying, and designed to provide mere distraction. I like my TV to have a little more depth, and so do my children. 5 and 3 they may be, but stupid they are not!

They love Sesame Street, Dora the Exxplorer, Bob the Builder et al that do have meaning in the shows, but best loved of all for my 5 year old is "Little Bill".

We live in an area that is predominantly white, so my children do not get much exchange with children of different ethnic backgrounds. From Dora and Diego, she has learnt a bit about Hispanic culture, and how the children are really just like her. So goes Litte Bill. Here is the first black family my daughter EVER "met". Wow...and the family was a lot like hers, showing her people are the same really all over! Great family values, and dilemmas that crop up in the life of probably nearly every Western 5 year old. Add to this that Litte Bill too has to encounter differences in culture as he lives in a diverse area. I love this programme for its gentle pace, its warmth of family, and its ideals of mutual co-operation and above all, a dash of humour, all things that hallmark this as yet another masterpiece by family man Bill Cosby. This programme is also one of the few watchable by anyone over the age 10. Bill, my family salutes you! Bill may be small, but there is nothing little about the wonderful impact this programme makes on young minds.

a good show, but Kiku and Fuschia spices up the cuteness up to eleven

Little Bill is a TV show created by the best man named Bill Cosby. Kiku and Fuschia are my favorite characters, and their voices are so cute, i would want to befriend them. good job, Nickelodeon, now do us all a big favor, and make us a Little Bill fans a spin off featuring Kiku, Fuschia, and Andrew as the main characters themselves, with surprising cameos and brief appearances of little Bill and his family. On the meanest thing to say, little Bill and his friends play pirate, and little Bill became insulted by a boy. well, it is still not nice to say mean things. on copy cat, little Bill and Andrew were having anger issues about copying each other. Copycatting other people is still not a good thing, but always to tell an adult if you see a copycat in action :D. but, on all together now, running away from home is highly unlawful. running away from home from strict parents could even get anyone arrested, regardless of anyone, and anywhere. and last but not least, when friends get mad, Kiku's artwork is train wrecked by Bill's small case of rage quit, when Kiku accidentally wrecked his artwork. miss Murray would have given Kiku a double F minus, if little Bill kept ruining Kiku's artwork into an infinite loop. if Kiku rage quits, too, miss Murray would give her a triple F minus, just like Mrs. Thompson did with Abigail Lincoln of the kids next door that scolds Valerie the were-poodle.

Bill Cosby, you deserve a big praise for designing Kiku and Fuschia as great, memorable characters.

Stand-out show for kids

It's safe for parents to let their kids watch TV again. With the hundreds upon hundreds of shows that cable puts at our fingertips, my wife and I have to be careful what we let our kids watch. Shows like Sesame Street are great for kids, but one can only take so much of Elmo and his monster pals before one wants to perscribe a bottle of ritalyn to them all. The gamut of afternoon cartoons is okay, but there's really nothing there to engage the imagination. Enter Nick Jr. I really like what my 2-year-old son and 9-month-old daughter watch during the few hours that Nickelodeon tones down for little kids. Shows like Blues Clues and Dora the Explorer are great for helping them with problem solving skills, and Bob the Builder shows kids that working together to get things done is really the way to go.

But of all those shows, Little Bill has to be my favourite. Sure, I've been a big fan of Bill Cosby ever since I watched the original Cosby Show when I was a kid (that'll date me). But one day in a hotel room, we stumbled upon Little Bill. I was amazed! It's a modern cartoon that promotes strong family relationships, self confidence, honesty, and social acceptance. The mom and dad are in love with each other, they love their three kids, the kids love the parents, and everyone loves Alice the Great, the grandmother that lives with them, but doesn't interfere with the parents doing their job as parents. In this day in age where TV teaches that gay relationships, philandering spouses, promiscuous singles, and selfish back-stabbers are not only okay, but healthy, it's nice to have "safe" TV for your kids. And no only safe TV, but edificial TV.

Score 1 for the families.

Well-done, sensible, engaging family-life show

My son and I just discovered "Little Bill" awhile back on the Noggin network, and we both love it. It has wonderful elements designed to engage the audience - believable characters, sensible situations, great tempo-setting music and plausible story lines. A careful watcher will discern the elements of Mr. Cosby's social ethos in this show - families which come in all shapes and sizes; social situations where we learn tolerance, dignity and proper expression; and my favorite, people who actually do something about a situation, instead of just complaining about the government or social pressure (race, ethnicity, status, etc).

The solid portrayals of family members and middle-class workers also help to dispel the media-blitz myth of African-Americans as either poor people on welfare, or rich criminals, sports stars or rappers, another hallmark of Mr. Cosby's quest for recognition and dignity in the black middle-class. Altogether, a very fine show with values galore that most families with kids will enjoy.

Cosby does it again.

Bill Cosby, with his clean way of getting things across does it again. But this time with a children show, parents can now let their children watch tv without fear once more. Back in the early 90's tv was great to watch, it was clean and pure and focused on good family values, but in the late 90's it has started to deteriorate, but with good shows like this for the children to watch, who knows ;)

Summary: Good for the children, the adults will tolerate it, teens don't watch this show at all.

fun, heart-warming comedy.

It was nice to see the tribute to his tragically killed son, Ennis, by including "Hello, friend". People that know his story and his closeness with his family could appreciate his subtle references in this fun cartoon. Others will find it lighthearted and cute. No matter what, it's Bill Cosby, a genius of comedy.
