Anil Kapoor wanted to do the film very badly, but the producers felt he was too young for the role.

Sridevi was upset with her outfits in the film. She felt it made her look very vulgar. She blamed the director for not taking care of things.

Poonam Dhillon told the producer that she was interested in doing the film. But Sridevi had already signed the film.

Kader Khan had a very bad falling out with the producer and director. They told Kader Khan to write many double meaning dialogues and he refused. When the film released, many of the scene's he wrote had been edited out. The director got a translator and got the original film's dialogues all made into Hindi. Kader Khan hated this and states that this was how the film flopped. The audience could not digest so much vulgar language.

Actually Amitabh Bachchan was to play the tittle role of this Hindi remake and K.Bhagyaraja who wrote and directed the origional, was to direct this film, but Amitabh couldnt do this film and K.Bhagraaj left the film and instead Rajesh Khanna did the tittle role and the Himatwala director K.Raghavendra rao directed Masterji. K.Bhagyaraja since before he said if he makes his first Hindi film, then Amitabh Bachchan, should be the main actor in the film. Then they did together Aakhree Raasta.
