Dr. Roger Cattan, Dr. Tim Lonner, and Dr. Evan Newman are starting a new L.A. medical practice. They are tired of the old system and try to treat their patients more humanely. That's why Dr. Sarah Church wants to join.
Tim has a patient/friend who wants marijuana (still illegal at the time). He talks Roger into doing a back alley buy. Evan has a new female patient who goes missing. Sarah finds her searching for her records after hours.
Roger convinces the others to buy a retiring Hollywood doctor's patient list which includes celebrities. Evan treats an addict who seems to have been cured by religious extremists. The cause of Evan's broken marriage is revealed.
Roger is called upon by his estranged father. His stepmother is sick. Tim battles an HMO. Evan hits a pedestrian who runs off before being treated. Sarah helps Evan to search for the illegal immigrant and ends up in an underground clinic.
Evan walks in on Roger doing a breast examine on Kelly. Sarah treats her ex, a depressed patient. Her personal life is revealed. Tim has a patient in the hospital and disagrees with the HMO doctor.
Roger treats basketball legend Reggie Miller. Both are in a charity auction. Evan treats a radio DJ who is spiraling. Tim's patient has a panic attack from generational trauma. Tim resists his foster kids from meeting their mother.
The guys spot Sarah's husband at a singles' bar. Her marriage continues badly. Evan and Sarah are treating a couple experiencing sex issues. Tim treats a snoring patient. Roger treats a possible abuse victim.
Sarah throws her back out. Office gossip has Patrick posing nude. The mother of Tim's foster kids relapses. Roger's patient has a bad outcome from a standard liposuction. He suspects malpractice by a respected doctor.

Roger's college ex (Patricia Wettig) shows up at the hospital. Tim has a panic attack. He is set to donate bone marrow. Tom Arnold's back for a physical. Felicity causes him to obsess over Y2k. Evan's the unlucky one left to deal with him.
Roger's business manager wants the guys to invest in an air bar. Tim's patient has been suffering horribly from a drug's side effects. Sarah's teen female patient has been self-medicating to transition.
Evan treats an opera singer. Roger is surprised by Eleanor's return and she agrees to fight her tumor. Sarah has a dying patient, but her husband (Robin Williams) has not visited her.

Eleanor's tumor seems to have disappeared and she's pregnant. Roger mentors a young new intern, but there are issues. Sarah treats a couple who are excited to be pregnant and then she is brutally raped.
Dr. Lonner treats young dying patient Zach. The parents are desperate to get into an experimental trial and Dr. Cattan has a contact. Dr. Newman's ex-wife Kelly wants to move the family out of L.A. Suzanne suspects that Felicity has OCD.
Evan has an ALS patient who wants help to die. Roger gets arrested for assault. It's the case of Kevin from e15. His lawyer father is suing Roger for amputating Kevin's leg without consent.
Tim's new patient Sammo Hung can't perform. Sarah's father Edmund Church is operating on Evan's son, but Evan stops it when he sees Edmund's hand shaking. Roger's patient is on death row and he claims to have amnesia.
The hospital has an unconscious Jane Doe. Tim tracks her to the porn industry. Evan's patient needs a kidney transplant. The father is eager to donate, but his recent heart attack blocks it. He hires Dr. Barrows to advocate for him.
Roger gets into a road rage incident in which Eleanor hits her head. Tim's low IQ teen girl patient wants to have a baby. The mother wants to tie her tubes. Dr. Barrows conflicts with Tim. Sarah reconnects with old crush Phillip.
Evan and Sarah hook up at the office. Roger's friend suddenly comes down with a mysterious illness. Suzanne's boyfriend has hepatitis, but is reluctantly to tell her. He seeks help from Dr. Barrows.
