Only one of the three main Mario cartoons in which Toad does not appear. However, the caveman Oogtar has the same voice actor and basically fills the same role.

Some of the original sound effects from Super Mario Brothers are used in several episodes of Captain N.

This series was given educational values, such as not to get involved in street gangs, no bullying in schools, and avoid junk food, due to the Children's Television Act that was set up by the Federal Commission Command in October 1990.

This is the only Super Mario Bros. cartoon that Princess Peach has "pupil-less" eyes throughout. Although, her eyes were the same on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! (1989)'s segment, All Steamed Up/Butch Mario & the Luigi Kid (1989). Oogtar and some of the cave people appear to have "pupil-less" eyes.

While this series was in production, the animators were not allowed to use licensed music; only music that was written and/or parodied exclusively for the show.
