John Creasey created the character of Commander George Gideon in a series of 26 novels, beginning with "Gideon's Day" (1955), which was filmed as Gideon's Day (1958). After the series closed, makers ITC moved on to utilise another of Creasey's literary figures: The Baron (1966).
