Padikkatha Methai

Bhimsingh is one of the greatest legendary directors of Tamil cinema. Nobody handles human emotions as good as him. Padikatha Methai was one of the best films from the master storyteller. The performance by the entire cast was unforgettable, everyone manage to leave an impact. Sivaji Ganesan was remarkable. Ranga Rao was pretty good, but his performance was definitely not superior to Sivaji. Kannamba was great! She was a complete natural. I really loved her! E.V.Saroja was bubbly and adorable in the movie. She had two nice dances! She leaves a mark in intense scenes as well, especially in the scenes after her father Ranga Rao's demise, she takes up a job to support her helpless mother and is the only one who pours affection on her, all her brothers turn selfish. The movie falters towards the end though. The ending was really lame and not to mention it was unrealistic, I SO wanted sivaji to throw out the two sons of his uncle from the house. People like them totally do not deserve to be forgiven. [-2 for it] The music was by K.V.Mahadevan. Oore ooru urile, padithadinal arivu petror and Ullathai solven sonnathai seiven were memorable numbers from the movie. The movie had magnificent lyrics by Kannadasan AND Maruthakasi, each and every single song had in-depth meaning.

Typical family melodrama of the 60s with Sivaji playing a simpleton devoted to the family that raised him. For once, Sivaji is overshadowed by SV Ranga Rao, who is unforgettable in the role of the head of the family. Lovely songs. Too much of emotions towards the end.
