Ole Høiland is a legendary Norwegian thief and jailbreaker, often compared to Robin Hood. He even is the only one who has broken into The Norwegian Banks reserves successfully in 1834.

Ole Høiland became a legend, evn being a simple thief, as he was a charming man, often romacing women on his roads in Southern Norway. Many times he was jailed, and almost just as many times he managed to break of of jail.

When this film was made it was quite surprising it wasn't made earier in Norwegian film history, due to his famousness.

Successful director Knut Andersen got a solid cast with him in this film, produced by Øyvind Wam. Script was written by Harald Tusberg who has a cameo in this film, and music made by Egil Monn-Iversen, sung by reknown Alf Cranner.

The movie is quite entertaining, and vibrant, and keeps interest, and is well played as a movie which could be seen of all generations, even if these's some sensual nudity. The weekness i s the editing, which seems done to save seconds.

This movie is made available in 2024 when it was released on interregional Blu-Ray Disk by Norwegian Film Classics as the fifth release in a new series with classics, NFK0023, with subtitles in English, and is supposed to be held in stock for film lovers.
