Doris Hare who had been cast in a guest role was fired by Terry Scott because she had problems with her lines.

This show is largely a continuation of Happy Ever After (1974), which starred Terry Scott and June Whitfield as a middle-aged couple called Terry and June Fletcher and followed a similar plot. When lead writer John T. Chapman announced he did not wish to continue the show in 1979, the BBC were unhappy at the idea of losing a hit show, retooling it as Terry and June and making certain changes to avoid legal issues.

Terry Scott had a mental breakdown when the series was cancelled, and shortly afterwards was diagnosed with cancer.

Terry Scott and June Whitfield had first starred together as husband & wife in the film version of Bless This House (1972).

Three different actors played Terry's boss Malcolm during the show's run, with each actor younger than the last. Tim Barrett was six years younger than original actor Terence Alexander, while Barrett's replacement, John Quayle, was nine years his junior.
