I managed to snag a copy of this video recently. It's a bit of a collector's item because it's out of print and has gotten a lot of praise. So did it live up to the hype?
In one way, yes. This is probably the definitive Lisa Boyle video. It's one of her earlier efforts before she became too much of a "star" for more than one sex scene per video (if that). I've only seen a couple of her other videos and she definitely shows and does much more in this. She is frequently fully nude and does full sex scenes, complete with "orgasms".
However, that's about it's only standout feature. I'm guessing that in 1994 this thing was some of the most explicit softcore available. Today, Surrender and Playboy have released plenty of stuff that goes further, has more sex scenes, and with women who are every bit as attractive/siliconed as Lisa but less inhibited. And all of this stuff is readily available at reasonable prices. Now don't get me wrong, I.L.T.P.G. has held up pretty well after nine years and can still be considered decent softcore. Unlike, say, any movie made in the 1970's with the word "cheerleaders" in the title.
So overall I'm glad I ended up getting it, but mostly for its rarity. If this was remade shot for shot today using different actors I don't think anyone would be too impressed with it.

I Like To Play Games has a claim to fame in that it was one of the handful of the (supposedly) superior titles that brought the straight to video erotic thriller to a wider audience during the 1990s - the other contenders being the trite 'Elkie' aka 'Friend of The Family' (also starring Lisa Boyle), and the absurd 'Playtime' (with Jennifer Burton, who memorably crops up in this one).
I'll leave it to others to debate whether any of this is justified, but the so-called erotic thriller usually generates some fairly jaded comments - as one look at IMDB comments will tell you - but I Like To Play Games does have one or two merits (and as many flaws). Set against these low standards, what does I Like To Play Games have in its favour?
Well, as actors Ken Steadman (who died a year after release) and Lisa Boyle (one of the decade's poster girls) might not be brilliant, but both are definitely attractive, and have a tangible chemistry between them; and if the cinematography will not win any prizes, it is at least competently and efficiently done...for the most part.
This is advantageous (but far from unique) within the narrow millenu of the erotic thriller, but the real story, perhaps, is the unexplored motivations behind the main characters (other than gratification or narcassism) within their increasingly toxic, mutually obsessive, relationship.
None of this puts I Like To Games in the same league as genuine psychological thrillers; as it is, (for those who care) this is an above average T & A flick with some good moments and a few interesting ideas it has neither the ambition or ability to explore.

Suzanne Braunhill (Lisa Boyle) is a successful executive at an ad
firm who has just been transferred from New York to Los Angeles.
Even though her reputation as a witch (possible spelling error)
precedes her, Michael Morgan (Ken Steadman) who works at the
same firm in LA thinks he can play her games with her. He has
just split with his girlfriend Melody (Pamela Dickerson) who just
wasn't exciting enough for him. The game is on!
Suzanne's games put Michael in awkward situations that threaten
his career, but he persists in playing the games against the best
advice of his friend Nick Kelso (James DiZazzo), who seems to
have played before. How the last game is won may surprise the
viewers.
The movie, though negative and somewhat depressing at times,
is generally well done for one of its genre. Monique Noel
(Playboy's POM, May, 1989) plays a small part as a member of the
office team. She has some cute body language responses to
Michael's frenetic orders as he tries to meet deadlines.

My husband brought this home-- it was an awful movie- no real plot and the sex wasn't even that sexy- unless you like to watch people lick themselves and act like idiots..... if you want to see a good sex scene rent Carne Tremula instead....
My husband brought this home thinking it would be exotic- it was trite and stupid-- no one had any redeeming value- especially the girl- and they seem to think tongues are sexy.... much hype no affection or action.
"Michael" (Ken Steadman) is a marketing expert for a national ad agency in Los Angeles that is trying to land the account of a Japanese sporting goods manufacturer. Although he is quite good at what he does he considers his personal life to be quite dull and as a result he breaks up with his girlfriend "Melody" (Pamela Dickerson) because he needs someone more exciting. Not long afterward he thinks he has found exactly what he is looking for when a beautiful marketing assistant named "Suzanne" (Lisa Boyle) transfers in from New York. However, he soon finds that she plays by her own set of rules and realizes that he needs to either step up or quit-before it's too late. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that Lisa Boyle dominated this movie with her acting, sex appeal and beauty. Unfortunately, the director (Moctezuma Lobato) seemed to lose control of the situation by introducing several scenes that were both unrealistic and totally ridiculous. Likewise, although his acting was tolerable, I thought Ken Steadman looked rather out-of-place with his goofy hairstyle. But that's just my opinion. Again, for what it's worth I thought that Lisa Boyle put on a dynamite performance. I also liked the addition of Jennifer Burton (as "Tiffany") to a certain extent as well. It's just too bad that the rest of the cast lacked the ability to keep up. For that reason I have rated this movie accordingly. Average.
The video box looks like just another one of those "erotic" movies but this one actually has a plot, moderately interesting characters, and some humor. It's the story of a guy who gets involved with a woman at work who likes "games." Of course he thinks he's going to be in control, but she's a smart one who gets the best of him time after time. It does get a little too dramatic near the end but on the whole manages to be sexy, fairly entertaining, and not demeaning to women. Worth a second look. What "9 and 1/2 Weeks" should have been.
This is probably Lisa Boyle's best movie. She shines in the screen with many steamy sex scenes... all the positions, all the attitudes, all the scenarios. What else could you ask for? This is quality soft core porn. The cinematography is really good for a movie like this. Also, the acting isn't that bad but it's the least thing you should care about.
Lisa has sex with the same guy for almost all the scenes but it doesn't matters because it's obvious that there is chemistry between them. Well, WHO wouldn't like to have chemistry with Lisa?! The S&M and everything is great in this movie. I'm glad I bought it. If you are a huge Lisa fan, then you understand the greatness of the movie. If you are about to become a fan of hers, then you are going to be really pleased. Totally recommended.

I have a sinking feeling if I had saw 'I Like To Play Games' in the 90's, I might not have been impressed. The plot is routine for the T&A genre and you could say a bit tired. However I found it's cornball characters, nature somewhat charming now. I didn't take any of it serious & a lot of the saving grace goes to former Playboy model Lisa Boyle. She looks great here, nails the bad girl role.
Michael (Ken Steadman) an LA advertising exec breaks up with his girlfriend because she's too nice, no sexual spark. Then he meets Suzanne (Lisa Boyle) who transfers in from NY and is immediately attracted to her. He pursues her and finds out she likes to play games and it goes beyond just sex. The teasing torments him, the play excites him leaving him wanting more, but as Suzanne ups the stakes further can Michael break free before his entire life comes crashing down?
The opening is a fun blend as we meet the douchebag who falls head over heels for the lady followed by a friend & co-worker warning him off, but to no avail. Dropping into her office and summing her up like a resume then she does the same to him in silly fashion. The acting here isn't bad, the story is simple and the whole thing is obviously low budget. Of course the nudity is why we tune in and there's a good amount. Lisa supplies the majority of it and I must have watched the unrated edition because muff made multiple sightings which was great. Her in that bondage getup underneath her business suit is burnt into my brain.
'I Like To Play Games' isn't the greatest like some suggest, but it delivers what you came for and much of it pretty hot for as far as simulated sex scenes go. The story's twists and turns wore out near the end, but with a tight 90 minute runtime it never becomes a pain to watch. A sequel (sans Boyle) followed 4 years later and I'm interested to see if it can at least match the high points here.

Basically, at the end of the day, people who are watching these movies want to watch the sex? The soft-core parts? Who cares about the plot? Believe me, the sex in this soft core is absolutely amazing! Lisa Boyle is absolutely gorgeous and I so wih I'd taped it when it was on the tele a couple of weeks back!
Anyway, if you want soft-core highly erotic great sex scenes then this is for you, there's loads of 'em and the three-some is quite possibly the best soft core scene ever shot!

If there is a better soft-core movie out there, I can't think of one, and I've seen them all. The only one that comes close is "Play Time (1994)". Lisa Boyle's performance is volcanic and Ken Steadman can barely keep up with her. Don't miss this film. The massive amount of nudity, fetish-wear and kinky sex make this one of the most memorable films of the genre. The acting is way above average for a skin-flick and the story-line is interesting and somewhat believable (well, almost). I found that I didn't reach for the FF button at all. In fact, the Rewind button got quite a workout. Also, watch for SC queen, Jennifer Burton, who makes a naked cameo. This is a keeper !
Now, this is how you make a soft-core sex movie! Mostly, these types of films fail because they have either too much tedious plot or too little erotic action. I Like to Play Games gets the balance spot on in my opinion. The story-line is very simple but it never out-stays its welcome. It essentially is used simply as a means of stringing along one erotic encounter after another. There are two things very good about this. One, there are lots of these scenes and little time wasted in between. And secondly this movie is a Lisa Boyle vehicle. She is a pretty stunningly sexy woman and is naked many, many times in this. She plays a mysterious, highly sexed femme fatale who plays dangerous games with a lucky victim. The sexual encounters are very varied in content. But the important thing – and it's hardly a given in this type of movie – they are very sexy. There are several great sequences but special mention has to be made for Lisa's leather strap outfit – seeing truly is believing.
This is surely something of a classic of its type. A 90's sexploitation movie with a great leading lady. A film that does exactly what you hope it will. Can't say fairer than that.

This is one of those movies you either love or hate. As a fan and friend of Lisa Boyle for the last ten years, I can only say I love it!
Lisa is a very talented lady, whether as an actress, a website operator, or lately, a professional photographer. Her acting abilities have not gotten a fair shot in my opinion, and she is far better than the critics would have you believe. She is very good at playing "bad girls" and also has a great comedic sense.
This movie is very erotic, and makes you think about the head games that men and women play on each other, instead of just being themselves. Her character is a consummate game player, but ultimately a very lonely soul, desperate for real affection.
Don't let the negative reviews scare you away. This one is a nice little gem just waiting to play games with YOU!

This movie has everything you can expect from a B-movie and more. First and most importantly the leading lady in Lisa Boyle. Who's hotter than Lisa Boyle, no one. Plus the plot is actually interesting so even though it's 2a.m. you don't nod off between sex scenes. You can't ask for more from a B-movie.

I'm not sure why some reviewers felt that this was not erotic, unless they were looking for something more hardcore. They don't show actual penetration here.
Lisa Boyle is Suzanne, a new co-worker who plays various role-playing games with Michael, the main character. For example, she pretends to be a naive schoolgirl having her first sexual experience as she removes her clothes. Many instances of Suzanne teasing Michael in public, but in such a way that only Michael realizes what's going on (eg. what happens under the table during a meeting).
As a bonus there is a bit of plot if you like psychological thrillers (ie. when is Suzanne playing a role and when is she really herself?), but the main attraction is Lisa Boyle herself. The movie as a whole is a real turn-on.

I first saw this when i was about 12, it was definately the best super soft core porno i had seen at the time and it remains (7 years later). Back then i didnt even pay attention to the plot, but now i even like this movie as a movie
I'm a big Jennifer Burton fan, and she's in it in a big way (as always), but after seeing the film and thinking about it the next day, I wondered why I sat through the whole ordeal. I saw the French-dubbed, unrated version of "I Like To Play Games", so maybe if I saw it in English, I would have tuned out much quicker.
Lisa Boyle (a nice looking lady, but not a world-beater) and Ken Steadman (complete with a cheesy 1995 haircut) play Suzanne and Michael. Both of them work at some agency. Michael is a guy who obviously played games of dare with Jeff Wise and Angela from Mike Sedan's "Mischievous", but his are all sexually charged. The whole movie is about seeing these two soap-opera rejects ruin their lives just out of boredom. They play ludicrous games of "tease" (well Suzanne does). While it's fun to see the conceited Kung Fu-loving Michael made a fool of over and over again (one scene has him running in the streets naked after she runs away from his pad, complete with a view of his jewels for the ladies), it gets tedious once they start having real "philosophical discussions" and then everything...well let's just say it steals everything from "Mischievous".
All I can say is that even in French-dubbed voices, I couldn't stand either of these two primadonnas. I would have preferred if they settled their petty "love feud" with a duel and two .357 Magnums and gave us more of Miss Burton. Still, I couldn't stay away; I had to see who won this "feud", find out if you "dare".

Lisa Boyle is by far the most amazing actress/model I have ever seen. Oh my god !!! , She is so beautiful and sexy that it is almost a crime. This movie is a masterpiece. Period. And it's all because of Lisa. I just don't understand why did her movie career didn't sky rocketed, She sure as hell deserves to be recognized amongst the top actresses today. It's not fair why we can't see her in Hollywood big budget films. Man... I guess those people in Hollywood can't see a talent if it hits them on the head. Oh well... I guess it's our loss that didn't happen. Now listen to me very carefully, nothing in this world is more beautiful than this unbelievable woman. She puts the S in sexy. I'm serious now, there are a lot of beautiful women in movies, but Lisa is different, she can move baby, oh yes... she's got all the moves. I admit I haven't paid attention to the movie itself, because I couldn't concentrate very much after seeing her. She is truly amazing. I wish I could buy this DVD, but it is out of stock. I don't know why they aren't making a zillion copies of it and distribute it again. I want to buy all her movies. They are a must. I just want to wish her luck, I know about her great site, and about her new career in photography, and I'm sure she will excel in it also, I have seen some of her stuff, and let me tell you, it is amazing. Lisa, marry me ! (or at least email me at: tomer_noy@walla.com) Love and respect,

I rented this movie after having seen it several years ago on TV. Lisa Boyle is one of the sexiest women I have ever watched. She plays out an erotic scene with both taste and passion. The scenes are photographed to their best effect and this movie qualifies as an erotic classic.

If you're looking to see a lot of Lisa Boyle (and if you're reading this review, there's a good chance you are), this isn't her best film. Sure, she has a lot of screen time, but the movie just isn't that hot. Not to mention the fact that she's wearing clothes in this flick a lot more than in many of her other films. Rent something else.

This movie is the best work of Lisa Boyle. The acting is really pretty and of course the sex scenes are very erotic. There is this movie that seems like a sequel of this one, called "I like to play games too" in which Maria Ford is earger to show off her new boob job(my complements to the doctor). The sequel is no where near as good as the original. Why on Earth would they not use Lisa Boyle in the sequel?
This salty pebble is just like all the rest, it looks good on the outside, but there is no inside. What I mean is, when I am at the video store picking out a video for "me time", I want to see somethinng that is going to... make my blood flow. But this movie is a tease. After watching this disappointing rubber bunnie, I cried myself to sleep and crawled under a rock of depression the next day. I hope that I have helped anyone out there that is looking for a good flick, or a bad one. Some scenes are tame, need I say more? *
The plot - well, I have seen them better, but certainly also much worse...
But let´s be honest, you don´t watch this movie because of its plot and its expressive characters; you watch it because you want to see a lot of Lisa Boyle, and you get what you want; she is just MARVELLOUS! I can´t find words to describe how beautiful this girl is...
