Antonio Banderas in डेस्पेराडो (1995)

डेस्पेराडो

अक्सर पूछे जाने वाला सवाल

No. Desperado has many things in common with El Mariachi structurally, but it is a sequel, not a remake. Just after the title sequence, a dream scene replays the ending of the first film (though a reshot version, with Antonio Banderas replacing Carlos Gallardo), recapping the death of Domino and the wounding of Mariachi's hand. In the first film, the titular character was an actual mariachi, only inheriting the guitar case full of weapons from the killer known as Azul at the end of the film. Desperado picks up an unspecified length of time later, with the Mariachi having become something of a local legend in the interim.

Yes, it is a sequel to El Mariachi, although you don't have to see El Mariachi to understand Desperado.

Robert Rodriguez has stated that coming from a background in comic books, he has always had a bit of comic book fantasy in his films. In the town Mariachi finds himself in, there are no police. It is run by gangs, and gangs only.

It's a codpiece with two revolver-like cylinders attached to a single barrel, the resulting shape being an obvious joke. While never used in the film or its sequel, it did make an appearance in From Dusk 'til Dawn (also directed by Robert Rodriguez), where it was worn by Tom Savini's character (Sex Machine). He wore it on his crotch in the film. Rodriguez stated in the commentary for this film that the Mariachi was in fact wearing it when he entered the bar that the Short Bartender (Cheech Marin) ran. When the Short Bartender gave the order to kill El, the crotch-cannon actually flipped open and shot the guy with the pony tail in the balls before the guns popped out of El's sleeves to finish the guy off. But Rodriguez decided to cut it from the movie.

In the first film, the character Mocco shot and killed Domino, the woman that "El" loved. Then Mocco shot El in his left hand, ruining his ability to play the guitar. El managed to kill Mocco and he was spared by the rest of Mocco's men. Mocco was just a middle man for Bucho who is the Mexican boss of the Colombian cartel. So El felt that Bucho is the one responsible for ruining El's life.
