According to DVD commentary, several of the writers are fans of his show and have incorporated mentions in certain episodes. "Baba booey" is used several times as a joke, including the season 4 credits where Khandi Alexander as Catherine draws the words over a picture of Bill McNeil's face. Also, in an early season 4 episode, Dave explains that, even though Matthew won employee of the month, the majority actually voted for "Baba booey". In Jackass Junior High (1998), a member of the tour group asks if WNYX is the station where Howard Stern works.
