Nearing the halfway point, shortly after Iris and Margaret have left work on the very rainy day, Iris says to Margaret, "Criminals secretly want to get caught. I read that once. They have uh, uh, guilty conscience." Seconds later, they see Jane's boyfriend in his car with a woman other than Jane.
