Eddie Alcazar is the under-the-radar, up-and-coming visionary filmmaker who’s collaborated with everyone from Steven Soderbergh to Darren Aronofsky and The Weeknd. Soderbergh executive-produced Alcazar’s 2018 sci-fi debut “Perfect” before teaming up with the filmmaker again for his 2023 black-and-white Sundance premiere “Divinity,” which IndieWire deemed one of that year’s “best-looking movies.”

Aronofsky, meanwhile, executive-produced Alcazar’s short film “The Vandal,” released by New Yorker Studios in 2021. And filmmaker Alcazar, who also works as a writer and game developer, also wrote and directed The Weeknd’s stop-motion music video “Red Terror” earlier this year.

But Alcazar’s next project is “Bullet Time,” a hand-drawn TV pilot, fours years in the making, that he created and directed that tributes the Golden Age of ’90s animation. Alcazar hopes the DIY, tactile approach to the storytelling will be an antidote to AI-driven times. Danny Elfman also composed the music.

2025 will be an excellent year for fans of the nearly axed Love Bullet. Kadokawa's critically acclaimed Girls' Love action series about love, guns, and cupids will be officially released in English by publisher Yen Press.

Yen Press announced the surprise acquisition of Love Bullet at this year's McM London Comic Con, held from May 23 to 25, 2025, at the Excel London Exhibition Centre in London, England. "You've asked for it, and we got it!" the manga publisher said on X (formerly Twitter). The third and final movie in one of the most underrated action trilogies on Netflix is gearing up to hit the streamer tomorrow, and the first reactions have now pulled into view. Last Bullet, which brings the explosive story of the “indestructible” car genius Lino to an end, is due to hit Netflix on May 7, and the first pair of early reactions to the action outing have heaped praise on the “incredible” finale.

We recently learned that Alien: Romulus director Fede Álvarez is working on the script for a direct sequel to the block-busting sci-fi horror movie, and it sounds like the follow-up might just lay the groundwork for a new Alien vs. Predator film.

Álvarez confirmed that he's currently developing the story during a recent interview with Empire, while promising that the movie will take the classic franchise "into uncharted waters."

After pulling back on original content production in Southeast Asia and doubling down on efforts in Korea and Japan over the past year, Disney+ is focused on creating a premium service in Asia, instead of a mass one.

A new anime series by Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 director Sunghoo Park, also widely known for directing Ninja Kamui and The God of High School, is set to take the stage in 2025.

The release window for the upcoming Bullet/Bullet was recently announced as part of the Disney Content Showcase 2024, held on Nov. 21 (Sgt) at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. Set to premiere in the summer of 2025, Bullet/Bullet will stream exclusively on Disney+, with a key visual, action-packed trailer and staff listing -- described by Japanese news outlet Oricon as a "gathering of masters" -- all now revealed for the first time.
