Sangeet

Everything about this film is praiseworthy right from the Direction, the Performances, the Music and the Dances. Sangeet is a musical film directed by K.Vishwanath, starring Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. Madhuri Dixit performs the double role of Nirmala Devi/Sangeeta while Jackie Shroff plays Sethuram.

The music for the film is composed by the duo Anand Milind with lyrics by Santosh Anand. The songs O Rabbaa Koi To Bataae Pyaar Hotaa Hai Kyaa and Saat Suron Ke Taar Ban Gaye are soulful and melodious. Madhuri's double role of a poor Caring Mother and Blind Daughter is flawless and motivating. Don't miss it!

Sangeet is a Mature story depicting Sensitivity,Love,Caring,Selflessness & Forgiveness. Madhuri Dixit gives a perfect portrayal of Nirmala and Sangeetha (a Mother and Blind Daughter). She wonderfully underplays her character as the Mother which reflects Sensitivity and Caring. Madhuri's performance as the Blind Daughter is equally wonderful. Her posture, expressions, body language, dialogue delivery and mannerisms for both Mother and Daughter roles (i.e. Nirmala and Sangeetha) are pitch perfect, as per their characters. Vishwanath's direction in this movie is really great. Jackie Shroff is also very good as the folk singer. Music is good especially the song O Raaba Koi.Overall , a very good movie. I recommend it to everyone who love sensitive cinema

Sangeet is one of the best films of the year 1992 directed by K. Viswanath. Madhuri is superb in the double role of mother and her blind daughter in the film and shows her versatility as an actor. Jackie is also very good in his role. The music by composers Anand-Milind is melodious. It is a heart touching and sensitive film well made under the excellent direction of K. Viswanath. Sangeet is not like a typical Hindi masala film of the 90s decade. The film might not have been commercially successful upon release but is memorable due to the captivating performances by Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff.

I watched this movie in 1992 when in class 8. Got to watch it again a few days back and felt like writing about it. The story is not bad, music is good and dance are terrific by Madam Dixit. Despite of a good story, good dance, music and a good cast,this movie lacked in several department making it worth one time watch only.

While in class 8 I thought that thi smovie might be too serious for a 13 yr old but it still bored me in 2009. Madhuri was good as the daughter but she disappointed big time as the mother. She seemed to be doing caricature of an old woman like adjusting her specs ,clearing her throat time and again and smiling all the time..you know like primary school kids enacting an old character. She was not at all convincing as an old woman, even her dialogue delivery was extremely fake.This movie alone showed that she is a very limited actress. She lacks versatility. Jackie was OK. Music and Dances were good but the movie's script gave enough scope to the actors who failed it.
