In the burnt rooftop somersault stunt scene, Yuen Biao suffered a broken leg.
While filming her fight scene with Sammo Kam-Bo Hung's character, Cynthia Rothrock kicked Hung's stunt double so hard in the side of his head that he bled from the ear.
Prior to filming, Cynthia Rothrock had torn a ligament in her knee and Richard Norton had developed a severe infection from cutting his leg on a plant. Both filmed their parts but can be seen respectively performing all their kicks with a single leg.
The fight between Sammo Kam-Bo Hung and Biao Yuen proved perilous to film. Hung kicked Yuen so hard in the chest that the latter was unable to draw breath, and required assistance from Ka-Lok Chin to start breathing again. Chin - who doubled Yuen in key scenes - was injured when Hung flipped him over his head and he landed on the back of his neck.
Tak-Hing Kwan originally intended to reprise his oft-played role of the folk hero Wong Fei-hung in the film, but ceased involvement over the planned usage of the character. At some point, Fei-hung was to be captured and rescued, and Kwan considered this disrespectful towards the character.
