Evil Toons

I've read the various reviews of this flick and some of y'all just don't get it. Obviously, it's cheap and poorly made...so go with that and relax. It's a perfect throwback to 80's horror/comedy filmmaking. Sexist? Whatever. If you rented this one you wanted to see a few bimbos get naked and then get dead. You also wanted to see a "...Roger Rabbit" type horror film. So, you get the first and not really the last. Live with it. Madison Stone gives an award winning performance for a porn star and David "Kung-Fu" Carradine seems a little less drunk than he did in his mail order tai-chi how-to video. You also get cult star Dick Miller and Laugh-In nazi Arte Johnson...oh, how could I forget Monique Gabrielle, in her best topless scene since Bachelor Party?! Plot? Kinda'. Nudity? You betcha'. Cartoon monster? Long enough for this kid. Enjoy at your own risk....who cares what your friends think anyway.

Evil Toons (1992) is a movie that I recently watched on Amazon Prime and came highly recommended from Edward Delgado. The storyline follows a group of young ladies hired to clean an old house. When they arrive they discover a book that resembles the necronomicon and they decide to read it unleashing cartoons out for blood. How can they stop cartoons and what are the the toons trying to unleash on Earth?

This movie is directed by Fred Olen Ray (Hatfields and McCoys: Bad Blood) and stars David Carradine (Kill Bill), Arte Johnson (Munchie), Dick Miller (The Terminator), Monique Gabrielle (Bachelor Party) and Barbara Dare (52 Pickup).

This is a very interesting movie. I will say it has a great cast, settings and butts. There's a ton of nudity in this picture and way less David Carradine than I expected. He was definitely under utilized. The cartoon dialogue was good and I enjoyed the use of the necronomicon. The situations and dialogue are awful. There's a scene where they literally say, "Let's kick some butt." There's some sequence that drag on way too long I found myself saying, "I need some cartoons or Carradine right now or I'm going to jump out a window." The ending was a bit rediculous but made sense based on the plot and the kills throughout are nothing special.

Overall, this movie is bad, doesn't have enough Carradine and all the gorgeous ladies in the world can't save it from itself. I would score this a 3.5/10 but still recommend seeing it once.

Roxanne (porn star Madison Stone), Jan (porn star Barbara Dare), Terry (Suzanne Ager), and nerdy Megan (Monique Gabrielle) are hired by Burt (Dick Miller) to spend a weekend cleaning up an old house. You know Megan is the nerdy one because she wears glasses. Anyway, they are delivered a Necronomicon looking book by Gideon Fisk (David Carradine) and, after an incantation is read aloud, a cartoon wolf creature springs forth and starts killing folks. Leave it to Fred Olen Ray to call his film EVIL TOONS, yet only have one cartoon in it with only roughly a minute of animated footage to boot. WHO FRAMED ROGER RABBIT this ain't. This is deliberately goofy stuff and it serves its purpose (topless scenes) for its 82 minutes. The funniest bits are nearly all from Miller, including a scene where he DOESN'T want to get it on with his horny wife (Michelle Bauer). Carradine probably only shot one day on this for drug money and Ray hilariously cuts to reaction shots of him to make you think he is just chilling outside. See David Carradine slink behind a tree! Helping beef up the "name" factor is Arte Johnson as a perv neighbor. It is filmed at that same recognizable house where Ray also did TEENAGE EXORCIST and SPIRITS. Wynorski also did SORORITY HOUSE MASSACRE II there.

`Evil Toons' is a rather entertaining movie with fair to average acting, very attractive women running around with no clothes on, a not-too-bad of a plot, a very horney cartoon character with an extra long tongue, and plenty of laughable elements that make B movies so much fun. The movie isn't presented as a serious drama or even a serious comedy and one gets the impression that all the recognizable actors in it knew this in advance. After all, I hope they read the script prior to shooting.

The movie begins with the typical horror genre; Four girls are hired to stay and clean a very large, but abandoned house. While cleaning, one of them finds a creepy looking book covered in real skin that contains pornographic images of cartoons and is written entirely in Latin. And wouldn't you know it, the geeky girl knows just enough Latin to get them all into trouble. As with any movie that ends up on the B listing, there could have been many improvements that would have made this movie better - but too late now - I doubt any of the actors will do a sequel.

In short, don't expect too much more than a lot of good laughs accompanied by the shaking of your head. The movie is well worth the $5 rental fee.

There are so many things wrong with this movie, I'm not really sure where to start. There is little animation, the plot is a not so subtle rip off (the book is a very cheap replica of the Necronomicaon used in the Evil Dead movies), the acting is pure garbage and the ending is beyond stupid.

What the hell is the point of this movie? Sure, there's a good bit of nudity, but it just comes across as boring and tired. The girls are pretty, but their assets are wasted in this piece of trash. The effects are also pretty laughable.

I love B movies, don't get me wrong. But there's usually some sort of redeeming quality. This thing didn't even make me laugh.
