- Sheriff Sam Eberly: [He's standing behind Clint, who has his back to him] Chilly today. I should have worn my top coat. I came to pay my respects to a friend. He's buried here. Did you know him?
- Clint Goodman: [pause, then] No.
- Sheriff Sam Eberly: Died last week. Died sudden. I never... never had the chance to tell him how much our friendship really meant to me.
- Clint Goodman: Maybe he knows.
- [starts to walk away]
- Sheriff Sam Eberly: Hey, mister!
- [Clint stops, slowly turns around to face Sam]
- Sheriff Sam Eberly: I don't know who you are, but don't come back here... ever.
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: [trying to escape through the cellar window, he's nearly bitten by the dog Duke] Oh great, we've got Jason upstairs and Cujo in the front yard. And I'm having a real good time.
- [reconsiders killing Joanna and Cort with a shotgun after learning that Joanna had their child aborted]
- Clint Goodman: That's too easy.
- Joanna Goodman: [trapped inside the coffin-like crate] Please... why are you doing this to me?
- Clint Goodman: [speaking to her through the lid] Like a rat in a maze... remember?
- Joanna Goodman: Clint?
- Clint Goodman: Our child, Joanna... was it a boy or a girl?
- [pause, no reply]
- Clint Goodman: Suppose it doesn't matter.
- Clint Goodman: [staring at his and Joanna's wedding picture with hatred] Honey... you don't like the house? I can always remodel!
- [he slices the picture in half with a chainsaw]
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: [Cortland's just about to inject the fish toxin into Joanna during their scuffle in the basement] I'm not gonna lie to you, darling: this is really gonna hurt!
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: [to himself] You plan it so carefully. Every last detail. And then, some lunatic comes along and starts playing interior decorator.
- [turns and looks at Joanna]
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: Joanna, who did you tell?
- Joanna Goodman: I didn't tell anybody.
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: Are you sure?
- Joanna Goodman: Of course, I'm sure! What do you think, I took an ad out in the paper? I thought that was you!
- Sheriff Sam Eberly: You know, I remember when Clint was building this house. Did it with his bare hands. He had a real relationship with wood, that man. Sometimes, I think he was happiest when he was picking splinters out of his fingers.
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: There... never was a clinic, you dumb bitch.
- [he grabs the unloaded shotgun to protect himself against Joanna and the poisoned syringe]
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: No, baby! I'm booked on a one-way flight to the tropics! I'm gonna sit on the beach earning eighteen percent while I diddle the locals. And maybe, just maybe, I'll get off for a change!
- Cortland 'Cort' van Owen: [Joanna is about to shoot the dog Duke with Clint's shotgun] Is that a gun?
- Joanna Goodman: Well, it ain't a can of Alpo.
- Joanna Goodman: [looking at the toxin she's going to use to kill Clint] I never knew murder could be so pure.
