The Mama Dracula character was based on the true story of Countess Bathory, an enthusiast of rejuvenation baths consisting of the blood of young virgins.

The CD soundtrack composed by Roy Budd is available on Music Box Records label.

On a podcast interview with Louise Fletcher, the interviewer stated that he had seen this movie. Louise Fletcher responded, "Oh, you're the one."

Both Louise Fletcher and Maria Schneider co-starred with Jack Nicholson in two movies released in 1975: Fletcher in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Schneider in The Passenger.
