The Mama Dracula character was based on the true story of Countess Bathory, an enthusiast of rejuvenation baths consisting of the blood of young virgins.

Both Louise Fletcher and Maria Schneider co-starred with Jack Nicholson in two movies released in 1975: Fletcher in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and Schneider in The Passenger.
