Due to Video Gems' US release with the title "Fist of Fury II" on the box art, there has been frequent confusion as which film, this or Jing wu men xu ji (1977), is really the first sequel to the original Jing wu men (1972) (aka Fist of Fury). Despite Video Gems wrongly calling the film "Fist of Fury II" on the box art, the title card in the film itself read "The Fist of Fury."
