- Susan: How do you begin to describe a street? Do you talk about the houses? The bricks and mortar, the gardens and the trees? Or do you talk about the people? The young, the old and everyone in between? Where do you begin with the history? Your own or those who came before you? When we moved to Ramsay Street, the community was already here. The Ramsays, the Robinsons. The stories from those early days are legendary, and their legacy still lives on today. There have been many families over the years, of all shapes and sizes. Some of them unexpected. And friends who became like family, whether they were related or not. Love has always been a central theme. How many romances were born on this street? The street always has a way of bringing people back. Then I think of the people who can't come back. The people gone too soon. How would they look if they were still alive today?. If they'd been allowed to reach their potential? So many people that were lost. Everyone deserves a place in the history of Ramsay Street, even those who watched us from afar. Together, we have been the perfect blend.
- Karl Kennedy: Susan.. Susan. Where were you just now?
- Susan: [Susan looks out at the street party] I was home.
- Helen Daniels: Just distract the family. The way I feel at the moment if Paul walks through that door I'm more then likely to throw a frying pan at him.
- Paul Robinson: Gran, you're over-reacting it's not as bad as you think.
- Helen Daniels: Paul, your mother brought up a family in that home before she died and as ridiculous it may seem to you it means a great deal to me.
- Jim Robinson: You've killed a man once before.
- Paul Robinson: I was sick then, I had a brain tumour.
- Jim Robinson: What's your excuse this time?
- Jane Harris: Nan why are you doing this? You've lost your family, now you're driving your friends away.
- Nell Mangel: I don't need any of you. Play your childish games see if I care.
- Paul Robinson: It'll be an absolute pleasure having you question me, Detective.
- Det. Sgt. Michaela Morris: Don't be so flippant Robinson, you're up on a murder charge.
- Helen Daniels: Julie.. Shut up.
- Julie: What?
- Helen Daniels: I am up to here with that self righteous attitude of yours. You really destroyed your father by being just plain bloody selfish. And you have the audacity to stand there and say you were right. I'll tell you something, you were wrong, wrong, wrong!
- Julie: I was not wrong alright! You brought me up to do what I thought was right and you want me to work with her well I'm not going to so sorry.
- Jim Robinson: You're not being asked to do that Julie.
- Julie: Dad.
- Jim Robinson: Before I went away I asked you to apologise to Anna, did you?
- Julie: No. She's in Queensland how could I?
- Jim Robinson: We have a perfectly good telephone.
- Shane Ramsay: I reckon he'd cark it if he didn't have anyone to yell at.
- Paul Robinson: Yeah I suppose I should be thankful for small mercies, at least my dad doesn't yell.
- Max: You might be able to forgive and forget son but I can't. I can't forget what he did to you, what he did to the whole family. If it weren't for this rat you'd still be there diving. Maybe in the run for an Olympic medal.
- Shane Ramsay: Will you stop harping on about that damn medal dad. It's behind me but you keep racking it up.
- Max: I can't help it. He's not getting away with it.
- Paul Robinson: Oh what's her name?
- Des Clarke: I'm going for a shower.
- Paul Robinson: [chuckles] That's a funny name.
- Julie: I can't talk to you when you're like this. I'll see you at work when you calm down.
- Des Clarke: [shouting] I am calm!
- Helen Daniels: Well that's not strictly true, Max is upset over Maria and Richard and you just happened to be the first person he took it out on.
- Paul Robinson: He has this fantastic knack of making everyone's lives a misery doesn't he.
- Harold: Agnes!
- Agnes Adair: You got it right that time.
- Harold: What are you doing here? I thought you'd be hard at work, working on your notes from your publisher.
- Agnes Adair: Well, she wanted a meeting in person and it turns out there are going to be a few more meetings, so I thought I'd based myself here for awhile Is that alright with you?
- Harold: [Harold's last lines] Oh come in. I'm making a pot of tea. The perfect blend.
- Helen Daniels: What on earth made you do such a thing, You know how I feel about her you had no right.
- Jim Robinson: [to Julie] I told you not to send it!
- Julie: Gran, she's your only sister. It's about time you forgave her. Weddings are a nicer time to that then funerals.
- Helen Daniels: Julie you don't understand. I'll never forgive her
- Jim Robinson: [to Julie] You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
- Julie: Well I'm not dad and you're not going to make me. You're always saying how we shouldn't hold grudges.
- Helen Daniels: Just for once in your life will you stop interfering in everyone's business but your own. I'm sick to death of your busy bodying, I've had enough Julie!
- [Walks off in tears]
- Nell Mangel: [about Eileen] The poor woman's lost her voice. Poor soul.
- Des Clarke: Yeah sure. Now tell me mum what did this.. Did you just say mum's lost her voice completely?
- Nell Mangel: Completely and utterly.
- Des Clarke: Oh gee Mum, That's awful.
- Lucy Robinson: [Runs into the house] Guess what Mrs. Clarke got robbed and she's staying with Des and Daphne!
- Jim Robinson: Is she alright?
- Lucy Robinson: No way, she can't say a word.
- Helen Daniels: I should go and see if she's alright but I really don't feel up to it.
- Jim Robinson: I wouldn't worry too much. If losing her voice is the only thing she hasn't got too much to complain about.
- [chuckles]
- Helen Daniels: [On the verge of laughing] It won't be easy for her staying with Des and Daphne not being able to tell them how to run their lives.
- Lucy Robinson: Oh but, she has a notepad and she's taking down notes.
- Danny: Dad, when Mum went away why'd you keep me?
- Max: Cause this is your home.
- Danny: But you didn't have to keep me.
- Max: [Emotionally] I know. I'll tell ya I thought about it, alot. Anyway you wanna know what I come up with? Your just as much my son as Shane is. It doesn't matter whether you move away from here or not. As far as I am concerned as long as you live, this is your home and I'm your father. I know I yell at you and we fight and that, it's just the way we are. Underneath it all I tell ya, I love Shane and I love you.
- [He starts crying]
- Danny: Oh dad.
- [He leans over to Max and hugs him]
- Des Clarke: I love you.
- Daphne Clarke: [Her last lines] I love you too Clarkey.
- [Des goes out of the room and she goes into cardiac arrest]
- Paul Robinson: Flattery will get you everywhere Gran, you sly old thing.
- Helen Daniels: Less of the old thank you.
- Susan Kennedy: [Crying] I Believed everything you ever said to me.
- Karl Kennedy: Oh no Susan.
- [reaches for her arm]
- Susan Kennedy: [Susan slaps Karl across the face and responds angrily] Don't you touch me!
- Julie: Stupid gossip it gets me why she can't mind her own business.
- Paul Robinson: Well if you minded your own business our father wouldn't walked out of his own home a week ago would he?
- Shane Ramsay: He died yesterday dad. Gee dad don't you have any compassion?
- Max: I'm sorry son, just got a lot on my mind.
- Paul Robinson: Oh we're really tactful aren't we?
- Julie: Think about it Paul, what about all the things you're going to need? You'll be 80 before you get your first washing machine.
- Julie: Are you sure you don't know what's going on next door?
- Paul Robinson: No, now get out.
- [Throws a pillow at her]
- Danny: Hello Mrs. Clarke is there something I can do for you?
- Eileen Clarke: No but there's something I can do for you. I'm your new house keeper.
- Shane Ramsay: There's one thing I want you to do before we go though. Say thanks to the old man for me.
- Danny: Why should I?
- Shane Ramsay: Because he gave you a home and an education.
- Danny: [about Max] Yeah, and yelled at me day and night into the bargain.
- Shane Ramsay: [Angrily] Look this may come as a surprise to you Danny. The old man really got knocked for six when he found out you weren't his son. Remember when Mum went away with Richard Morrison what did you do then aye? You dug your toes in yelled at him that you wanted to stay. You put dad in a position where he had to decide to give you a home. Even though Mum walked out on him and knew that you weren't his son. The least you can do is say thanks to him for that Danny.
- Scott Robinson: I look I wrote the story and they paid me, the money is mine, if I want to blow it on a $400 duck comic surely that's up to me? This is ridiculous I wanted to thank Dad for helping so I bought him the wallet, big deal.
- Jim Robinson: Scott you're missing the point one day we won't be around to give you advice you have to fend for yourself. You need to learn how to handle your money sensibly.
- Scott Robinson: You're saying I couldn't cope?
- Jim Robinson: I'm not saying that at all.
- Scott Robinson: So much for the confidence in your young son. You know Paul's good with money. I suppose you want me to turn out like him. What next? Couple of evictions dinner, foreclose a few mortgages?
- Helen Daniels: Scott.
- Scott Robinson: I don't want to turn out like that ok? Money doesn't interest me that much.
- Nell Mangel: Which retirement home did you say you'd be working at?
- Kelly Morgan: The one up on Walker St Say hello to that Hubby of yours for me, when you get around to digging him up that is.
- Nell Mangel: [Nell is shocked] Well.
- Clive Gibbons: You know me I'm a Gibbons. It's Gibbons family policy to look on the bright side.
- Susan Cole: Where's the bright side in this?
- Brett Stark: Is that Lou singing?
- Danni Stark: [groans] There should be a law against Lou singing in the morning.
- Brett Stark: There should be a law against Lou singing.
- Danni Stark: There should be a law against Lou.
- Tad: [armed with baking trays] Found these in the back of one of Madge's cupboards.
- Susan: I'd completely forgotten about them.
- Tad: So had she, which is why she's too embarrassed to apologize herself. Now, er, I'm supposed to grovel, blame Harold and quickly change the subject. So, how about the weather today ay?
