This was the first sitcom produced for TBS (then known as WTBS).

This is the second series in which Dick Sargent took over an established role. The first was Bewitched (1964). Both shows centered on characters with magical powers.

When Stephen Johnson portrayed Richard Preston, the character owned a real estate office. When Dick Sargent took over the role, the character's occupation was changed to a licensing agent for inventors.

David Kaufman portrayed a 16 year old, but was actually in his 20's when the series was made.

Series star David Kaufman and creator Sam Harris had been acquaintances at UCLA. After Kaufman landed the role, the two wound up becoming lifelong friends. Kaufman and his family have appeared in many of Harris's video blogs.
