Martin Mull's character's name on this sitcom was Martin Crane--the same as Frasier's father (John Mahoney) on "Frasier" (1993). Both sitcoms were set in Seattle and featured a lead character whose job was to give on-the-air advice (Frasier on the radio, Martin on TV).

Megan Follows, who portrays older sister Didi Crane, went on to portray Anne Shirley in the Anne of Green Gables TV movies: "Anne of Green Gables", "Anne of Avonlea", and "Anne of Green Gables: the Continuing Story."
