फ़ीचर्ड समीक्षाएं
this movie is full of camp jamie lee fabulousness. from the lee press on nails, to her shamelessly swinging around her mullet like a sex kitten, this movie delivers the goods. not that i'm saying it's good, but who watches jamie lee movies for quality anyway. we watch them for jamie lee. my personal favorite scene is the "airport" scene when the three ladies are waiting for their "dates" and there is such an obvious battle between the three actresses for the most dramatic display! HA! and of COURSE jamie lee wins the crown BIG time. God, i'm laughing right now just thinking about it.
A very interesting movie of the week, made even better by the superb acting by Suan Flannery, who played a Madam. Ms. Flannery looked gorgeous and played a very cool "businesslike" role. There were also many other people in this movie who are well known and do good work. Some famous actresses in it played "women of the night." All of them were very good and played excellent roles. Linda Purl did a good job. Karen Valentine was also good. Jamie Lee Curtis has always been a very good actress and didn't let us down in this movie either. All of these people needed extra money and were desperate enough to try prostitution.
This made for TV movie stars Karen Valentine, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Linda Purl as three women who become prostitutes for different reasons. Karen plays a woman whose son needs a special school. Jamie Lee's character likes the thrill of hooking and Linda's character is saving the money to buy a house. This isn't landmark television but it's better than the title suggests. Karen Valentine is always a top-notch professional actress and she delivers a strong portrayal here. Jamie Lee Curtis and Linda Purl are also good in their roles. Catch this movie if it comes on late night TV (sadly, it doesn't very often) and I think you will like it.
I'm giving it an absurdly high nine out of ten because, for its genre, this flick is better than any I have seen. The acting is 10/10. The lighting is so good that it calls attention to it. Karen Valentine -- I forgot that she existed, let alone that I had a crush on her from the moment I saw her -- I think I was seven XD... I have never enjoyed a G-rated TV movie as much as this (unless you count the Rockford Files). Do watch it, if you're on the fence (I saw it November 2023 on Tubi)... ....Well I see that my concise review does not fulfill IMDB's strict character count, so I'll recap the first telephone conversation here: "Mary had a little..." Okay, now it's verbose enough. Peace out.
I recently watched Money on the Side (1982) on Tubi. The storyline follows a group of ladies facing financial struggles, resorting to desperate measures for extra income while trying to keep their activities secret from friends, families, and law enforcement.
Directed by Robert L. Collins (Savage Harvest), the film stars Karen Valentine (Gidget Grows Up), Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Linda Purl (Mighty Joe Young), and Richard Masur (The Thing).
Money on the Side is a unique 80s film about prostitution. While the concept is solid, I wasn't fond of the incorporation of interview/therapy aspects into the main storyline. The acting is inconsistent, though Jamie Lee Curtis delivers a strong, relatable performance. The ladies are stunning, and the ending feels realistic.
In conclusion, Money on the Side isn't outstanding, but it offers enough worthwhile elements to make it worth a watch. I'd give this a 6/10 and recommend seeing it at least once.
