Win Condict had to be sewn into the rubber Slithis costume every day because the outfit didn't have any snaps or zippers, and once Condict was in the costume, he had to stay in it for the entire duration of a day's shooting.
The cast and crew averaged fifteen hours a day throughout the shooting of this picture.
This film was shot in twelve days.
The film was originally given an 'R' rating from the MPAA. The filmmakers trimmed the film down to a 'PG' and then snuck the cut footage back into the film, because the MPAA did not follow up once the rating was assigned.
Writer/director Stephen Traxler wanted to do a sequel in which the creature terrorizes Los Angeles while Mello Alexandria's boat captain character hunts it down, but never could raise enough money to film it.
