This was Cybill Shepherd's first television movie, and she was initially optimistic, but after she saw it, the only thing she liked about it was the way her hair looked.

Although uncredited, this made-for-TV movie was inspired by A Guide for the Married Man (1967), which utilized the same premise of a philandering best friend teaching a newbie the ropes of marital infidelity. 20th Century-Fox had produced the theatrical film, and saw the ratings potential of a distaff remake. Like the original film, the TV version mined much of its humor from a parade of familiar faces in cameo appearances.

A Guide for the Married Man (1967) was a leering, sexist farce in which Walter Matthau's character was being coerced into philandering against his better judgment, whereas the dIstaff TV movie presented the straying wives seeking extramarital affairs in response to feeling neglected or betrayed by their husbands.
