Actor Colm Meaney has entertained audiences for more than half a century. Now, his work across film and television is set to be celebrated in his native Ireland. Meaney, arguably best known for portraying transporter chief Miles O’Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation and later the senior engineer on all seven seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, will be honored with the Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) award for lifetime achievement.

“To say I was surprised when I got the news that IFTA wanted to give me this award, would be an understatement. I was truly shocked,” said Meaney, per Variety. “To be asked to join this long list of very illustrious previous recipients is a huge honour, and I’m thrilled and looking forward to a good night in Dublin,” added the actor. Meaney is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement award at the IFTA awards on Feb.

The zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead changed humanity forever, collapsing every existing world power and killing off the majority of the species. The franchise follows the few survivors trying to build a new life and a new world, fighting against both the undead and their fellow humans whose worst impulses have run riot. It's therefore devastating to know that no matter what Walking Dead's heroes accomplish, the franchise already set up a second zombie apocalypse to destroy it all again.

This chilling fact comes courtesy of Clementine - a major protagonist within the franchise. Clementine was introduced in 2012's The Walking Dead videogame, from Telltale Games. In the original game, Clementine is a young girl who is taken in by Lee Everett, and the story's sole survivor. She's since appeared in more games set in the Walking Dead universe, as well as the Clementine comic trilogy from Tillie Walden.

Diane Cilento, a tall, voluptuous, sometimes blonde/sometimes brunette beauty best remembered for her Academy Award-nominated performance in the 1963 Oscar winner Tom Jones, died in Cairns, in the north of Queensland, according to an online report in the Australian publication The Newsport/Port Douglas Daily. The report says Cilento was 81; as per the IMDb, she had turned 78 yesterday. The cause of death, "after a long battle with illness," hasn't been disclosed. Born to a family of doctors on Oct. 5, 1933, in Brisbane, Queensland, Cilento began her film career in British and British-set Hollywood productions of the early 1950s. Here’s a quick recommendation for sci-fi fans seeking a vintage fix: Z.P.G. (Zero Population Growth) is a seriously underrated gem directed by Michael Campus. Campus has precious few other helming credits, with The Mack and The Education of Sonny Carson among them, but in this 1972 shocker that channels classic Orwellian themes, Campus’ debut proves to be admirably assured, resulting in a picture of extremely deliberate pacing while also indulging in many unsettling and near-experimental flourishes.
