The 2017 Cannes Film Festival has announced the lineup for Cannes Classics, a selection of vintage films and masterpieces from the history of cinema. This year’s program is dedicated primarily to the history of the festival, and includes one short film and five new documentaries.

Highlights from the lineup include “Belle du Jour” (1967), Luis Bunuel’s classic about a housewife who dabbles in prostitution, and “All That Jazz ” (1979) Bob Fosse’s story of a womanizing, drug-using dancer played by Roy Scheider. There is also the documentary “Filmworker,” which tells the story of Leon Vitali, an actor who abandoned his career after “Barry Lyndon” to become Stanley Kubrick’s right hand man and creative collaborator behind the scenes.

Melancholia, The Artist, Le Havre and the other nominations for the 2011 European Film Awards have been announced. The 24th Annual European Film Awards are presented “by the European Film Academy to recognize excellence in European cinematic achievements. The awards are given in over ten categories of which the most important is the Film of the year. They are restricted to European cinema and European producers, directors, and actors.” This year’s European Film Awards “ceremony will be held on December 3, 2011 in Berlin’s Tempodrom near Potsdamer Platz.”

Montreal -- "I'm going to give you the best show of your life tonight. You're not going to be able to walk in the morning."

That's what Lady Gaga said Monday night (June 28), right around what could've conservatively been called "the midway point" of her marathon set, and she wasn't kidding. Because by the time she finally wrapped the two-plus hour show at the Bell Centre -- a show that was also the kickoff of the North American leg of her revamped (and seemingly unending) Monster Ball Tour -- there wasn't a calf muscle left unquivered. If it wasn't the best show her "little monsters" had ever seen, it certainly was the longest.
