Half Ticket

I saw this movie recently and was amazed by the quality of the hilarious comedy that this film offers. It beats the films of these days in terms of comedy. Kishor Daa has had a tremendous role and everything in the movie is up to the mark. I recommend everyone at least give it a chance and you will be a happy person on earth. Each scene of the film has something in it to make you laugh. You will be a laughing bag at the end. And then the film has a romantic story too which has a happy ending. A must watch for everyone. Even if it is black and white movie, the excellent movie that it is makes it a treat to watch. A lot of scenes has some fancy stuff in it that makes one think what quality the movies of earlier era had in them. Then the music quality of the movie is some of the best. The song that Kishor sings in both male and female voice is the most hilarious. This song is made alive by the play made by Kishor Kumar.

Half Ticket (1962) : Brief Review -

Copies half of the Hollywood formula and gives FULL Entertainment of its own. I remember watching the 1942 Billy Wilder comedy "The Major and the Minor," in which the beautiful blonde, Ginger Rogers, pretends to be a minor girl because she only has half the money to buy a ticket. I could have never imagined a male actor doing that in Hindi cinema. Kishore Kumar, a chameleon in his own league, did it for Indian audiences. Besides that half-ticket formula, this Kalidas' comedy has not been much inspired or copied; rather, it gave a lot to others to copy. Remember that scene in Sholay (1975), when Jay (Amitabh Bachchan) tarnishes the image of Veeru in front of Maasi? Kishore Kumar did that 13 years before Big B. You might have hurt this dialogue in many movies over the years: "Mein pagal nahi hu, Mera bas dimag kharab hai." It came from here, I believe. We have seen the villain chasing the hero throughout the film for a piece of jewelry (sometimes drugs, documents, or some other element), and they get involved in too many messy situations. Half Ticket goes bonkers with that thing. We have two of the best funny songs of all time, "Chil Chil Chilla Ke" and "Oo Gujariya," involving the hero and villain in a chase in this movie. None of Kishore Kumar and Madhubala's romantic numbers were that good. It's shocking, but it didn't matter much. Madhubala has less to do, but whatever scenes she has, they are beautiful. Otherwise, the entire movie belongs to Kishore Kumar from start to finish. This is the most nasty Kishore Kumar could get in a movie. So many hilarious dialogues, so many funny moments, and some iconic comedy scenes-Half Ticket has full entertainment loaded for you. Kalidas has made an "epic" comedy, which, barring that Hollywood idea, I believe, is a cult classic! I don't mind if anyone's keeping it on the "top 25 comedies of all time" list.

I can see why it was hit at time of it's release but it doesn't stand test of time.

Half Ticket is a laugh riot. An absolute classic from Kishore Kumar and director Kalidas.

Half ticket is the story of Vijay(Kishore Kumar) who is a fun loving son of a rich industrialist. He is always doing some pranks. His father becomes fade up of his pranks and habits, drives him out of the house. He then decides to go to mumbai but he does not have money for ticket. He them disguise himself as a crazy little boy who is half witted. At railway station a thief Raja Babu(Pran) hides a dimond in Munna's hip in bid to escape from police. And the rest of the story is how Raja Babu tries to retrieve his diamond from Munna while Munna/Vijay and Rajini comes close to each other.

This movie's biggest strength lies in the lead actor Kishore Kumar, and he ensures this is one man's show. He is simply brilliant in each frame. Absolutely crazy act and you will just love the accent and speech tone of Kishore Kumar.

Madhubala looks lovely and both of them KK and Madhubala looking so good together. Both of them have amazing chemistry together and even their scenes are crazy ones.

Director Kalidas ensures there is no any dull moment in the movie. An absolutely crazy movie which is fun to watch.
