"Ravishing Ronald" is modeled after wrestler Gorgeous George Wagner, who used many of the gimmicks Ronald does in this cartoon: a valet, perfume, dyed blonde hair and bobby pins. Unlike Ronald, however, Gorgeous George was actually a competent wrestler, and theatrical "cheating" was his trademark, not his opponents'.

The character of the ring announcer is modeled after real life actor Dan Tobey, whose entire career was portraying boxing and wrestling announcers on film, which he also did in real life.

The Arabian Nights-esque gong sequence was also used by Rank Films at the time

In the film, Bugs Bunny works for the extremely handsome, extremely vain, and rather effeminate wrestler "Ravishing Ronald". The character is explicitly a parody version of two real-life wrestlers, the flamboyant and charismatic Gorgeous George (1915-1963) and the so-called "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers (1921-1992) who was famous for his flashy look, his great physique and his bombastic personality.

The short offers a humorous depiction of professional wrestling, a type of mock combat performance which typically features drama, gimmickry, and outlandish stunts. The professional performers generally integrate authentic wrestling techniques and fighting styles with choreography, stunts, improvisation, and dramatic conventions designed to maximize the entertainment value and the audience engagement. Wrestling's high levels of violence and masculinity make it a vicarious outlet for aggression during peacetime.
