- Sergeant: I'm sorry. I lost my head, Inspector.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: Well, find it. You'll need your head if we're going to discover who committed this murder.
- Sergeant: Well, why would anyone want to kill a decent man like Dan Percy?
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: Perhaps the murderer didn't stop to ask if he was decent.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: If we can get Macklin off this ship, you can save your neck. I'll see to it that you get a fair trial.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Listen to him. If I get a fair trial I'm dead. What I need is an unfair trial.
- Eric Hartman: [Throws a newspaper article on Joe's laps that tells of Yvonne Temblay being found dead] You've seen this?
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: So What?
- Eric Hartman: Amazing how calm you are. Doesn't that raise your pulse even slightly?
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: I don't have any pulse.
- Eric Hartman: What good is it going to do us, find him, make him talk?
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Don't get excited.
- Eric Hartman: You feel we shouldn't get excited?
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Sure. When you get excited you get ants. And when you get ants, you get rattled.

- [Joe Victor has just succumbed to a wound he's sustained in the climatic confrontation]
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: He died a hero. It may be just as well. Had he lived, he might not have known how to grace the part.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: I was thinking of Miss Geary. I met her at the golf club yesterday. Do you remember?
- Dr. Carl Macklin: Yes.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: Charming.
- Dr. Carl Macklin: Yes she is.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: What do you know about her?
- Dr. Carl Macklin: Very little, and the little I know, I like.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: I can't say that I blame you. Women make it a pleasure to be a man
- Fred: It's too bad our man was liquidated.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: Well, sometimes bad news can be changed into good news.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: You realize, of course, that Dr. Macklin will never consent to work for you. One thing you cannot enslave is the human mind.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: If we can get Macklin off this ship, you can save your neck.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: I'll see to it that you get a fair trial.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Listen to him.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: If I get a fair trial I'm dead.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: What I need is an unfair trial.
- [Inspector Raoul Leduc can be seen arriving as paramedics are preparing to load a gunnery into an ambulance. As the Inspector exits his car, a Sergeant approaches him.]
- Sergeant: You were a long time coming, Inspector.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: I stopped over to break the news to his wife.
- Sergeant: Well, how'd she take it?
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: How'd you expect her to take it.
- [Joe Victor can be seen walking through a crowd and carrying a few bags. At some point, a man approaches him. This is Dubois]
- Dubois: Welcome to Canada, and to freedom, Mr. Steiner.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Mr. Dubois?
- Dubois: Dubois. Your sponsor.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: [holds up one of his bags] Okay, buddy. Sponsor one of these.
- Dubois: It would not look well for me to carry the luggage of the man who comes to Canada to work on my farm.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Before we go anywhere, Buster, let's get this straight. I didn't come here to milk cows.
- Dubois: Just for appearance sake.
- [the two of them walk off]
- [Morrie and Joe Victor can be seen by some docks]
- Morrie: He's gonna to kill that guy.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Are you your brother's keeper? Here.
- [Joe reaches into the pocket of his coat and pulls out some money, which he gives to Morrie]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: You're gonna need some dough.
- Morrie: Where are you going?
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: That cop, he said something.
- Morrie: About being a hero? Don't be a sap, Joe.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: So long, Morrie.
- [Joe pushes Morrie over the edge and into a nearby river]
- [following the climactic confrontation, Joe Victor can be seen lying on the floor of a ship, he's mortally wounded. Next to him is Inspector Raoul Leduc]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Hi, Inspector. The doll, Joyce, she wrote you a letter.
- [Inspector Leduc picks up said letter that Victor had with him and looks at it for a few seconds]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Looks like I'm not gonna make it back to the States.
- [Joe looks up at Leduc]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Do me a favor.
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: Yes, Joe.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Will you dump my ashes across the border?
- Insp. Raoul Leduc: [nods] Sure, Joe.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Thanks.
- [Leduc continues to watch as Victor closes his eyes and succumbs to his wounds]
- [Dubois can be seen approaching a van, where Joe Victor is hiding in the back. As Dubois reaches the van, Joe can be heard speaking]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Hey, Dubois.
- [Dubois opens the back of the van]
- Dubois: There is something wrong with the line.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Maybe, maybe not. But I'm fed up with farm life. Come on, let's go.
- [Dubois shuts the back of the van before he heads around to the front and gets in. Seconds later, the van departs]
- [Joe Victor can be seen speakong over a telephone to Jack Allen. Initially, Joe is unaware who the one calling is]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Hiya, Baby.
- Jack Allen: Hi, boss. Jack.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Oh, it's you. You're early. What's the matter? Didn't the girl like your brand of bait?
- Jack Allen: She loved it. But her sister makes her check in by 10:30. Afraid the wolves will get her.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: [looks towards a nearby door] I get it. I think it's the prettiest pair of legs in town is coming right through my door.
- [Joe hangs up the telephone as the door opens and Eric Hartman enters along with Joyce Geary]
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: My hand's out, and my palm is itching. $100,000.
- Eric Hartman: Less the advance our friend in Lisbon gave you.
- Joe Victor aka Steiner: Less nothing. Plus expenses. Come on, pay off.
